#18More power is always nice on tracks with a long straight but even my fairly standard SD achieved an 11.6 second quarter mile with a terminal speed of 121.4mph at santa pod the other weekend. Not bad given my 15 stone, lanky frame and not wanting to fry the clutch
Enjoy the SD for what it is

#26The SuperDuke is one of the very few (if not the only one) 1000cc motorbikes that's built to be nekkid. (Which is one of the reasons why I bought it.)
Reason to go for a Jap 1000cc is exactly the same as going for one and leaving the fairies on; they're plentiful, reliable, fairly powerful and you can get bits and pieces for them from anywhere. But they're boring.
The S1000RR is the dogs danglers when it comes to bikes in 2010. Lately BMW has been building some truly awesome bikes, and they'll keep on doing that. S1000RR is 193bhp at the crank from the factory, someone dyno'd it to ~180 at the wheel. Show me a reasonably priced RC8 that does that. Besides, what's the point in calling the S1000RR ugly (which IMO it's not) when you're going to strip it off it's characteristic looks (a.k.a fairies).
How many nekkid RC8s...? Probably tons more than a nekkid S1000RR.
Final point; Starting a powerful-nekkid-project from a faired bike is easy and everybody does it. A 160-170bhp SuperDuke on the other hand is totally unique.
Live with it, gents, live with it.

#27Over the years ive owned sum seriously modded cars, from 1 of the 1st Vaux Novas which i shoehorned a 2.0 16v 180BHP astra engine into, to a renault clio with a 350BHP 4wheel drive cosworth drive train in, through to a Mk 4 escort with another 4 wheel drive cosworth drive train pushin 565BHP, all were a fookin nightmare to work on and own, even down to simple things like you break a clutch cable, expect the fookin thing off the road for 3 months while you get ANUTHA 1off part made up
Tons of fun yes and creates tone of interest and excitment when running perfectly, but expect a ton of stress gettin it there
Set a budget and a time limit - then double both
I think every 1 here wud luv to see a 150BHP+ SD but were in reality are you gonna use such a toy to its full potential? Everybody here already has 110 - 120HP to plat with and do you think you all use the bike to its full potential at present? probly not

#33My laptimes would benefit more from fully adjustable Ohlins and less weight on the bike, and the bigger butterflys on the SDR injectors...
Surely the best way to "improve" the Superduke would be a race-tuned SDR engine with a suspension upgrade, superlight wheels and a slipper clutch?
(stands back and waits...)
