I'm sure the type of track will also affect the laptimes. Regardless, unless it's a motard track, I'm pretty sure a relatively experienced track day rider would be quicker on the RC8. Experienced, I said; not necessarily good, or fast. Although that type of rider really SHOULD be faster on the RC8 anyway.

The laptime gap would grow the faster (more open) the track is. However, I reckon the gap won't be as big as most naked-to-superbike gaps would be.

I'm going purely on the fact that most of my track-riding friends and I have similar corner speed regardless of bike, and rely more on power. And the more stable the bike, the quicker the average rider is, in my experience.

A local bike mag had an experienced rider (not fast, owns a 1200GS) and newbie go around a tight track here in SA, bikes were RC8, SD and SMR.
The experienced dude went quickest on the RC8, the newbie the SD. Bear in mind that the newbie was lapping at road speeds; he was VERY new.

Both hated the SMR around the track, because of the suspension movement and feeling of being very far from the tar.

I think TJ is faster on his SD.

More God than sissy.
The track Dave woods did the comparative lap times on is likely to flatter the sdr - I won many a 1300cc open on a 250tz at cadwwell
