Really need help guys

So sometime last week I lost my keys to my SD. No idea where they are or could be, I've shredded my room 3 or 4 times, retraced steps, checked every pocket, they're gone. So I go about calling locksmiths in my state (VA, USA). Not one mobile locksmith will touch KTM's. No idea why. I call KTM and they say sorry, can't help you since the bike doesn't have key tags. There are locksmiths that can make me new keys if I bring them the ignition/lock, so that looks like the only way I'm getting new keys.

Has anyone ever done this on a bike? I haven't and I don't want to ruin it but I really am out of options, unless someone knows somebody in the Newport News/Norfolk area that could help me. The KTM dealer told me it's pretty simple but I still don't want to butcher/damage the bike by taking it apart. I haven't been able to start it since last Sunday so I'm starting to worry about the battery at this point. I keep the bike in a private garage, so I won't have access to power outlets or anything like that.

Are you sure KTM can't issue you with another key? So long as you can supply them the VIN/Engne numbers, they should be able to trace it back at the factory and issue an identical key. I had just this situation with a Vauxhall Monaro (Pontiac GTO to you guys). Vauxhall got the VIN/Engine numbers from the car emailed them back to Australia and 2 weeks later new key ready coded to my car appeared. Worked perfectly. I can't believe KTM can't do this. They don't even have to radio code an SD key...

Yeah I told them I had the VIN and everything and they still told me no. I might try calling another dealer or something, idk. I really am screwed right now. No locksmith will come out and help, only if I bring the bike/lock to them which I can't understand. Not feeling too great right now.

It would probably be quite simple to hotwire the ignition as the keys are not chipped assuming that you dont have an alarm fitted. You could then ride it to the locksmiths to get a new key?

Do you have the key code that came on the keyring. Did you look in your KTM satchel?
It seems to me that you could use the key code at a quality smith and save tha headache of igntion removal. Hell, if the can key from a lock. take the freaken seat lock out and take that in.

Contact KTM UK and ask them. it must be able to be done.

Note that I have an SDR seat (single), if that makes any difference.

Not sure on the SDR but no way you could remove the SD seat without a key. I don't think you can remove the ignition barrel with the steering lock on either, unless you perhaps drill out the anti tamper bolts while the triple clamp is still on the bike. I wouldn't fancy doing that personally .

why not take the gas cap off?

No. You have to unlock/lift the cap to get to it.

You're F'ed. Part it out...

I like the trailer or a pickemup idea. If you can not get a lift for your bike, remove the top tripple clamp with the lock attached. No need to remove the anti-tamper screws that hold the lock to the tripple clamp. Should be a 15 min.task to remove.....for some of us.

If the lock pin engages a pocket, you cant slip the top tripple clamp up. The pin will be engaged.
If it is, then slide both forks and the lower tripple down, freeing up the top clamp from the steering stem.
You will need to support the bike, till the top clamp is reinstalled.

I called the previous owner to see if MAYBE he had the spare key or key codes or anything that could help. He searched his garage for an hour....and found the spare. Bike fired right up and will be getting a custom TuneECU map installed soon

Btw I already have a blank key in route to my house to make a copy lol lesson learned. Thanks for all the help everyone
