Regulator Rectifier replacement

Hi Guys,

I've been having electrical issues so wanted to put the question out there as to if anyone has replaced the stock Voltage rectifier regulator with another brand. Some of the other forums are talking about replacing shunt style (like our standard KTM) to a mosfet one. They use different methods of getting rid of excess current etc and hence the mosfet ones run a lot cooler.

The model they are talking about is the Shindengen FH012AA used on Yamahas etc. I'll be looking at getting one of these soon with all the parts but just wondering if anyone has done the swap yet. As it seems the KTM is wired a bit differently.

Just had mine replaced with a Shindengen only because KTM Australia didn't have one in stock.Mechanic said he had use original plugs and a bit of time to fit it.Wasn't much difference in price. Works fine.Cheers

How much are we talking for a voltage regulator?

I got mine from MRK-01 he didnt need it in the end!

Paid $150ish from memory. These are hard to get in OZ like most stuff from KTM but the style of regluator is prone to heat failure. The Shindengen uses Mosfet and doesnt suffer the heat issues of the stock shunt VRR.

Will be fitting my replacement tonight hopefully if it is cool enough. Been in the 40s DegC for the last couple of days.

The Shindengen's are $110USD approx.

Missed this first time around - anyone know of a UK source?
