removing pillion pegs

hi all,

i was just looking at taking my pillion pegs off (they get in the way of the heels of my feet when cornering) but just wondering how much they flop around without anything behind them and whether theres a chance of damage.

im sure it will be ok but just double checking

bike is 07 but i dont think that matters

Some guys ride without anything underneath.
I've bent a little support in aluminium that uses the rubber from the pillion pegs. Be carefull not to tear the rubber when you remove it form the pegs.

I Hacksawed mine off.

Kept the 2 bolt bracket on bike.

yeah i'd just take them off where they bolt on the subframe, im sure i should be right with nothing behind to stop the side panels flopping around too much.

If it's a new bike then you could get some of those transparent self-adhesive patches they sell in car shops to protect against stone chips. There are a couple of places where the rear panels do vibrate against the rear subframe and wear away the paint. I've got CF panels and removed the whole pillion footrest hangars and they've worn through and left marks.
