Hi All
After 2 years of riding and SXV550 i am about to re-enter the world of Superduke.
My last one was stolen in 2010 and i though i would have a change, bit of a mistake really SXV's are great but as an everyday bike... not so much
Just wanted to ask a couple of questions:
1 Quickshifter do i need to have a power commander to fit one of these? do they plug straight into the loom? and can you set them to only work over certain rev's (do really want it to work if i'm just pootling along in traffic)
2.Power commander do i need one if i'm just changing the exhaust, just seems to be the easiest way of sorting the fueling and most dyno people (i know anyway) have some sort of understanding of them.

Cheers H
Dude - how wicked was the maintenance on the SXV?

Regarding the PowerCommander and DynoJet's version of a quickshifter: you won't get better answers than from the factory direct. Seriously, call them up - they're helpful and friendly folks. You will definitely need a PC to use their quickshifter - it doesn't work alone.

Do you need a PC for an exhaust change? Depends on the change (to what), but probably not. Don't know how long you've been away, but search the site for "TuneECU". Buy/Make the cable; do your own map loading and modifications.
Tune ECU is a much much cheaper than PC3 viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12511 basically you use your computer and put your own map in much like a PC3.

Not sure about quickshifter though.
First off, welcome back.

You need a PC for a DynoJet QS, but there are now others on the market that don't require it, HM make one (after a quick search viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17438&p=202781&hilit=hm+quickshifter#p202781)

If it is only the exhaust you are changing, the previous owner of my SD never did any remap and I left it on the stock map for about a year before doing anything. I finally got the dealer to install the Akro map whilst getting it service. But have since played with TuneECU, as SuperDan has mentioned.

HTH
thanks for the answers
I thought i would go for the PC as i was going to change the airbox as well and i though because they do a quickshift as well it might be the one to go for.
On my last Superduke i had a one off race fit pipe made for it and the having a PC3 made it easy to set the fueling for it, though this was 2 years ago and tune ECU was not available (must read the thread on this)
As far as airboxes go which one is best for bottom end power, again 2 years ago the moto hooligan one was the only one about (and it was a new thing then) have things moved on?
As For the SXV yeah the maintenance was pretty high oil and filters every 500 miles, in the 3000 miles i had it (from new) it never actually broke or went wrong but all the time you rode it felt like it could go bang at any second, don't get me wrong if you were going racing and someone gave you one it would be a fantastic weapon but it always felt like it was on the edge of going boom! and going straight from the KTM the build quality of the Aprillia left a lot to be desired.
