I don't use a sat nav, but fancy using my new iphone as one, for the occassional trip (Tom Tom for iphone4 is about £40)... so was looking at how I'd mount and use it, and saw this new KTM mount and bag.

Anyone tried this KTM kit - or using an iphone as a TomTom powered Sat nav?

Ta.
Yes I have this bag and it works OK for my Garmin GPS unit. One thing I will say right off the bat is that the holes that are drilled to mount the bag to the mount are centered on the bag. This is an issue because if you mount it this way the bag nearly completely covers the gauges and you can't see any of them. My fix was to drill new holes, positioning the bag lower so I can still see over the bag at the gauges. Wasn't a difficult fix and once you get through that, the mount is good quality and fits well... The bag isn't anything to write home about, but it does a good job of holding your GPS and that is all it is supposed to do!

One other nitpick is that the foam block included with the bag is totally useless. You are supposed to cut this foam to fit your unit, but unfortunately the foam is too soft to use in this manner. (I chucked it and bought a piece of styrofoam instead. Cut the foam to fit and painted it up and it works just fine.)

And just for the record all of these statements are simply my opinions. (Got my ass kicked in a different thread trying to help someone out.)

You remove the 4 pinch bolts that hold your handlebars on and the mount fits right over the bars. (This is why it blocks the gauges if you don't tweak the bag a bit.) They provide some spacers so that it mounts nice and flat. The kit also provides slightly longer bolts in replacement of the existing ones.. All in all a complete kit and fits very well... Not exactly Supermodel looks, but very functional...

Cheers!

I have been looking for that too. The TomTom for Iphone looks very good and way cheaper than a motorcycle GPS.

I see both Amazon and Ebay has universal Iphone mounts for motorcycles,

Just afraid my phone will go flying in 70 mph.

Shame the mount blocks the clocks like that.

My iphone expert/nerdy bro (and K1300R rider ) says the Co-Pilot is as good as tom tom, but to make it work like a real sat nav you need tom tom with the GPS enhancing cradle... ££££££

Think I'm gonna try the co-pilot with this...
