#6SuperDan, it looks nothing like the pics you posted, I have seen Rourke's bike inperson and it really looks like an abomination, Millar will hopefully post what I sent him.

#7Here are a few I tood recently, at first the bike was not avail and the guy was going to keep it for his collection and now he has road it and it scared the shit out of him. He says he has never ridden a quicker revving or faster SD in his life and he has had quite a few. this one has a few rumors like a lightwieght crankshaft and Titanium rods/valvetrain and a bunch of other trick parts. It has a VIN # that I could decipher only so far and it looks to be a 2004 # and everything on the bike is in German/Duetch. The bike is exactly the way it was acquired from a European vendor and is looking to be a grey market bike. (import only and not technically allowed for import into the US), I am sure you all in EU have seen such bikes but we don't get to see this version ever,,,,,,
Thanks for the help!!
Terry

#34Somehow it felt more lively than even my 08 SDR and was sooooooo much more comfortable to ride on a trip (maybe due to having to stop for fuel once every hour or so)
And of course the original ORANGE bikes had at least an extra 500 BHP than the black or grey ones

#36What I'm saying is that buyers pay for the year model and the mileage, that's it. Any bling that's put on the bike is not worth paying for. It's better for you to take off all bling and sell it separately and put the bike back into original state when you sell it.
If the bling has got value for you, then consider paying for it. But don't assume that if someone puts on USD400 worth of rearsets the price of the bike should go up by USD400. And remember that when you come to sell it, nobody is going to pay for the bling.
If I were you, I'd offer the "standard value" for a bike of that year with that mileage. Then I would probably add a "good will" amount towards the bling and the nice condition - if I were willing to pay for it.
Buyers market! Good luck! Lovely bike regardless of price.

#46Did any of you notice that the front caliper are NOT radial mounts? Did you also notice that the calipers are the exact some model as the ones found on the Ducati Superbikes in the 04-06 season?? This is becoming quite a different bike than some are telling me it is.....
Are the 05-06 bikes made with radial brakes? Anyone?
BTW this bike was recently Dyno'd and I was told it was just a tad shy of 150HP......not a average Superduke by any means.....

#47What I don't understand is that when so much engine work is done there is usually an accurate record of what was done and by who - just because the owner wants to have proof of what they did and how much they spent on it. It's an ego thing. Has the current seller got nothing to back up their claims?
Post 48 by Tfunk,
#48this bike is supposed to have Ti con rods and "special cams and pistons" along with some other trick internals.....but it was originally a German bike and sent in pieces in parts "trunks" over to the US and reassembled.
Post 49 by TheJoker,
#49Accept only hard evidence, if you're willing to pay for it.
A tuned bike, in this case with an alledged power hike of 50% (that's fifty percent), rarely commands more money than a standard bike. Even if you buy a tuned Hayabusa, you rarely pay very much for the extra tune.
Unless you're 100% sure of what's gone into this bike, and you're a collector, you'll be better off with a standard bike.
Just my thoughts - buying bikes isn't really about being sensible, though.
Post 50 by Twisted Jester,
#50If there's no documentation then as far as any buyer is concerned it's a std SD with a few accessories and deserves no more consideration price wise than any other, like the Joker says, you get virtually nothing for parts or tuning work unless somebody is particularly willing to pay for it, that's why those of us that haven't got money to throw around keep all our std parts and strip everything back off at sale time cause it's worth good money on ebay but worth nothing on the bike other than making it more desirable to the buyer over a std one.
