SD Tankbag

Don't know how many of you use one, I have the KTM tank bag for my 07 SD. Not bad, once you get the seat back on after you get the base strapped down.
What bag would you recommend that mounts with a filler cap ring.
The KTM bag is enough of a PITA that I don't use it much because I don't like fighting the seat back into place.

So, I need a decent tankbag that mounts to the gas cap ring. And I have an SD tankbag for sale. Cheap.

I have a Motech tankbag with a horseshoe mount. Works fine.

why is it a pain??? ive had mine on since the bike was new, its great.
never have a problem removing or installing the seat, good capacity. if i dont want the bag on i just zip it off.

I'm confused...my factory tank bag zips off the base which exposes the gas cap, no need to remove the seat.

No, I don't use the bag often so I don't leave the base on the bike.
When I install the base, the buckle sits about where the seat meets the tank. Big pain in the ass to get the seat back in place then.

It won't slide forward far enough to get the pin at the rear to sit into the lock plate.

Rather just have one that mounts to a lock ring, when I take it off then the bike there will be only a ring.

i love the KTM bag, its a nice size and is and expands if you need more room, its hardly ever off my bike, i recall having to play around with it a bit to get it to sit right with no interference but once that was done i dont even think about it. when adding fuel i just unzip it partially and let it fall to the side, dont even have to remove it from the tank.
the base is always on the bike never take it off.

to each his own i guess.

You're just mounting it wrong, if you thread the rear strap behind the tank pivot bolts the buckle is out of the way and the seat mounts without any problem. The base looks decent on the bike, and the zip off bag allows easy access to the gas cap. Plus it says KTM all over it, looks cool, and fits a ton of stuff.

But, if it's not suiting your needs, check out twistedthrottle.com, they have a ton of bag options including the type that mount to a ring fixed to the gas cap bolts.

Saw that TwistedThrottle had a good choice of bags. I won't be home for another week, going to try and find a replacement in the mean time.

I love my KTM bag. It holds 18 cans of beer no problem.

When I switched to a gel seat I had a terrible time getting the lock to line up. Had to do some extensive bending and grinding on the subframe for it to finally go on easy. As mentioned above, make sure the strap is under the pivot. It's a PITA to thread through but doesn't take more than a minute.
