Having previously owned an SD for two years I 'upgraded' to the SDR and have now spent a year riding it on road and track.

For what its worth, I'd say the SDR is.....

Fast roads......better
Twisties......same
Track.......much better
Town......worse
Bumpy roads.......worse
Looks..........much better
Reliability.......same
Long distance...much worse

still not sure which I prefer....I guess I really need both!

I'd be interested to hear other people's opinions.

Cheers

+1 regarding SDR seat, had mine 3 weeks now and absolutely love it! Very pleased I went for the r and after reading all the negative comments re seat, throttle and suspension I'm really left wondering what the hell these people were on about! The bike is what it is and will kick the tits off anything when ridden half decently and isn't that is what owning a machine like this is all about.....????
