Service (Valve Adjustment) intervals 08 SDR....

Ok, I was initially told (and read) that the valve adjustment should be checked @ the 7500km/4000mile service.
I called a local dealer who said that they should be checked @ 7500 miles. I assumed he misread km for miles.
I called another who said it should be done @ 7500km/4k miles. A highly respected independent shop said the same thing, but said he thought KTM may have adjusted their service intervals, just as Ducati did.

Am I reading this right, valves adjustment at 15000km/9000miles??

Im at 4600miles now. The valve adj were not checked @ the 600 mile service.

Advice??

Geez some dealer really are either numpties or fall in the bracket of true stealers.

Service intervals are 4500 oil and filters. 9000 valves, coolant and other fluids.

Yes it is 15,000KS. At first service KTM's old recommendation was valve check @ 1,000KS with oil change. They don't do this any more as it is not necessary so if your bike shop reckons that they do and charge you for it well their full of crap. If they do tell you that they do just put some mark's in different locations on your bike so after the service you can check if you marks like a bit of white out on the valve covers and in places that are not that obvious to the mechanic and you will find that they are not touched. Then you can go and abuse these rip off scum! One good trick is to do the screws on the tank panels up loose then check after the service and what you will find is that the right hand side will be done up tight because they do change the oil but the left will still be loose.
