#5Any decent 600 like a gsxr 600 and a decent rider on it can live with the duke.....600 cc sports bikes are very nimble in the twisties and can hit higher top speed than a duke aswell easily.mates R6 will hit 160

#16For me it comes down to annoyance. Ridden a few 600's and while the new ones do seem to go as fast as my SD you have to beat on them like a rental. I know everyone says "They are designed for that" but after 30 minutes of riding around keeping the motor between 10k and 14k to keep up I wanted to scream. Absolutely annoying as hell on the street. And having to damn near redline it to pull away from a stop quickly and cleanly ( I weigh 200lbs) is just murder in traffic cruising back through town. I would never buy a 600, I would just buy a 1000 if I had to get a sportbike and not use all the power.
I went through the same thing with cars. I have friends with M3's and 911's and they are fantastic to drive. But after driving my Z06 around it's faster and not remotely as annoying in normal driving. Torque is your friend and makes normal operation so much more pleasant. Nothing like sitting on the freeway at 70mph in 6 gear at 1400rpm getting 30+ mpg. My poor friends in their little engine, high rpm/hp cars are all spinning 2700+ rpm. No thanks. Just my opinion though YMMV.

#22power to weight ratio should not be too far.
I wouldn't be surprise if they keep up especially with the fairing helping at high speeds
