Hi Topendz,

No offense whatsoever. And I agree that the dealer didn't do anything specifically wrong - I specified black, and when the orange came in it just didn't occur to them that I might want the orange one, so they didn't call me. And it did give them the chance to quickly sell 2.

On reflection, though, I made my specific request for black based upon two things: 1) an assumption that black would be shipping at the same time as orange, and 2) the pictures from 06 to make a color choice from showed orange as having orange tank and orange seat. But those assumptions both proved, over time, to be not accurate (no fault of the dealer). So in a perfect world (which would be ... where? ) the dealer would have noticed that fact, and called me to allow me the chance to reconsider, based upon new data.

A friend of mine said that it should have been structured so that the first person with a deposit in gets first place in line to 'pick or pass'. When the first bike arrives, depositor #1 can either take it or pass on it. If he passes on it, that bike goes to depositor #2 for 'yea or nay' and depositor #1 keeps his place in line with first right of 'pick or pass' when the next bike(s) come in. That rewards the guys that put up money the earliest, and the dealer makes everyone happy.

In any case, the guy that slipped in front of me decided that he could wait for the black one in March, so I picked up the orange one this afternoon. Oh mommy!

And I got to thinking, if I decided down the road that I just had to have black, can't I just order the black plastic components and swap them out with the orange plastic components?

Or do what I did - pick up an orange standard and put a deposit down on the first 'R' that comes in - it's black! (My only problem is that I really like the orange, and I won't be able to afford to keep them both.)

Has anyone in the States inquired about service? They didn't have a price sheet at my dealer, but a Service tech guessed that the 600 mile service would be around $600. I took a step back when I heard that.
first service is a little steep thats for sure..... many over here in europe and the uk were a bit taken aback by how much it was, valve clearances need checking.
