When I got my SD it already had a KTM touring screen on the bike... I rode it around like that for a while, but I wasn't sold on the looks, so I put the standard item back on, ...but after a fast ride up the M1 I def missed the extra windblast protection, plus, after getting used to seeing the bigger screen every day, the standard one looked kinda stubby, and as though something was missing from the bike...
Then I came across the Skidmarx screen and thought I'd give it a try, as it's a few cm lower than the KTM item, fits more flush to the headlight (the KTM is on stalks and very upright), plus it has the same shaped flip-up top as the original, and actually kinda looks like the original item - just bigger.
Anyway, I definitely prefer the looks, and after back2back speed testing I can let any potential buyers know that the Skidmarx screen seems to perform just as well as the KTM one, so if you prefer the looks, it's probably worth the extra dosh. (£40).
It doesn't have a reccess for the bolts like the KTM screen, but they are quite attractive black bolts anyway, so it still looks like a quality fitting.
