Slight problem...*@!*?

I was pulling out my riding mower and the cutting deck just barely hit the pitbull stand holding my bike up. I watched in slow motion as my bike went over. It would have been perfectly fine, but I had my dirt bike stand right in the way...Doh!

The lever for the secondary butterflies seems straight, but the lever for the primary butterflies is not. I can't tell if whatever else connected to that lever is tweaked (were the throttle cable connects)..? The rest of the bike is fine. I haven't tried straightning it myself yet, I figured I talk to the KTM Grandmaster mechanics on the interwebs first to see what my options are. The bike is unrideable at the moment.

Ouch! I've watched my bike fall over twice. On both occasions no damage occurred luckily.

Firstly I'd def remove the throttle bodies before trying to straighten anything out. Once off and on the bench you'll have a better idea. Would def not turn on ignition as if anything is bent more damage will occur.

Edit: just seen pics. Dude I feel for you that doesn't look great

Pull it apart and straighten the primary fly linkage arm..obviously. You'll also need to straighten the other portions of linkage it attaches to.

Finally, you're going to need to sync the throttle bodies. Should be fine after that.


Looking at the photo again, looks as if the injector connector has been hit as well. Is it seated on the injector properly? I'm at work so don't have anything to reference.

Phuck dude, that sucks....you're not alone in seeing your bike tip over.

A few weeks ago I was taking my bike off the stand, and somehow lost my footing. She fell over on the left side, luckily landing on the AWESOME frame slider purchased from Motohooligan(thanks Aaron).

My left mirror was not so lucky. Shattered. Also, the spool fork on the stand decided to take a nice gouge out of my rear wheel. FML sometimes, you know?

Sorry that happened to ya, dude. Hopefully it's all an easy fix. Btw, why not just pull out the whole secondary system while you're at it? One less thing to bend if it ever happens again.... Lol

Order a new linkage, remove and replace then do the synch'ing.
Tough break but better than busting the TBs.

I've decided to check with my local dealer. I sent him a photo and a detailed email. He said maybe it will fall under warrenty...Fingers crossed! If not under warrenty than I'm going to try and straighten it out, but odds are that would be just to simple. I may have one fabricated.

Just when the weather gets really good and the gas more expensive...sigh

Is it possible to modify the secondary fly shafts and linkage to be used for the main flies? Has to be chaper than new throttle bodies... Check out the microfishe site that Judy posted, you never know.. U might be able to order the part

i would be very tempted to drill out the lever ends and put ball joints on there, make up a linkage with a socket on each end, the type that lock in place with a snap clip, get a lh thread and a rh thread and a threaded rod with nuts and set it up just like a gear linkage rod. my ducati's use that system as standard and would be better than trying to straighten your current linkage, the throttle shafts run in only bushes so if it's even slightly skewiff it will wear the bush prematurely.

No worries...glad you're getting it sorted.

I'm constantly bending stuff back into shape on a few of my ridding buddie's dirt bikes so I've got lots of practice.
