My comments at the bottom of the page of the article:

think I got a slipper not sure though, tried banging down the gears which would of had the trx chattering like a goodun but not the sd, also not to much engine brakingwhat do you think?
Does the clutch lever judder/tremble a bit when the slipper should be working? That's a sure sign that you have a slipper fitted. But it's a very quick job to take the cover off and see. Just lay the bike down on its side and you won't loose any oil.
do you not have to replace gaskets
I have had the clutch cover off a few times and reused the gasket.
As Bic has stated, on fast downshifts you will feel a noticeable click when releasing the clutch lever!

Stick it on the sidestand and pull the cover and take a peek. Mines a 2005 and ive had the cover off dozens of times and never once changed the gasket!
Maybe stupid question but i wouldn't know how to tell if my SD has a slipper clutch in it , anyone have a clue ? The reason i ask is as soon as i power away in first gear i get a slight shimmy feeling that felt like two things to me 1) like the chain itself is kinda doin something strange that first two seconds or 2) the bike has a slipper clutch in it ... I have a feeling it's the latter but i can't be sure and since i've never heard of a slipper clutch till i got the SD i have no experience with it.

When i started paying attention more to the feeling of the thing it feels as though for the first two seconds under harder throttle it feels as though there's a slight slip to the clutch and then it just stops doing so and feels like full grab. Anyway - that's what's really on my mind at the moment.

The other thing , i've just recently gotten my bike out of the dyno shop , tyre pressure !!! I was out on a ride today . And the last 2 trips out i've been saying to myself "Man i need to tweek the suspension" somethings just not jellin ! So i been fiddlin with things there. But today on the ride with a friend he carries a pressure guage ! I'm like lemme borrow that for a second ! i got 40 pounds in the rear !!! and 20 in the front ( HOT pressures ) means that front tyre was probably 17 lbs or so cold !!! SHIT !! and i think the dyno guy pumped up my rear tyre to 40 lbs so it grabs the drum on the dyno machine better.

Anyway - after fixing the pressures up ( station 100 yards from where we parked for a break ) the thing was like a new bike ! 30 front - 30 back for now ..

Slipper clutchs will not effect accelaration, thats not what there designed for. A slipper clutch is designed to stop the rear wheel locking up under hard downshifts and alleviates the need to match engine revs with a lower gear.

There are 2 ways to find if you have a slipper, 1. stick bike on sidestand and pull the clutch cover off and take a look (no oil will drop out so dont worry),or 2. ride along at 60mph in 4th gear then smack the gearbox down into 2nd gear and dump the clutch, if the rear tyre locks up and the bike dumps you on your ass then you dont have a slipper

I prefer the 1st method

As for the tyre pressures, im assuming you set them at 30/30 when cold?!?!
