Is this forum slowly fading into history?

Not many posts over the last few hours...no questions, problems, suggestions?
Things will pick up when the 1290 comes out, the upside is alot of tasty 2nd hand parts are coming up for sale, check out V4tohomo.com and you will no doubt find a few defectors there.

Yep have to agree,
i keep hitting the refresh button only to see nowt happing
Yep pretty boring on here this year.......... Real busy on the old TLZone forum 6 pages of active posts currently so I just go over there, funny when you consider the TLs / TLR have been out of production for 10 years now
I just spent 30 minutes writing a reply to this and it's not here.I do this all the time and things just don't get posted WTF
I wanted to say one reason is KTm is selling a ton of RC8R's the other forum has a section just for these bikes.
there are about 80-100 people logged in to the section all the time.

The new RC8 is so good FMF made a map for it's pipe and it works so good turns a fast bike into a missle.
another thing we are going on 4 years with no new bike.and the price of a RC8 is a little more than a new duke was in 08
Many people are buying KTM's for the first time I sell a ton of products for these bike because every day it seems like someone bought a new one.

With the duke most owners have had theirs for a while and and done all the mods I don't sell much products for the Duke. And I have lots of cool stuff for them. I love to go fast and I out grew the duke like many people have my top speed on my Duke is 3rd gear on my RC8.

Many guys that had Dukes now have RC8's I see the same guys on the other forum. This is still the best for the duke .
I have met many friends here and because of them I am back on the track,For that John I thank you.

I hope KTM makes a 1200 Duke we need it.But the Rc8 is so easy to ride and so comfy it's hard not to always want to ride it .
My Harley sits alot My RC8 is more comfy than my HD and way more fun.
It's a natural progression to go to the RC8 It is so duke like I got used to it so fast.If I would have got a R1 or a GSXR I would still be trying to get used to it.

This site will survive but we do need a influx of new riders I think there are not any more new 08's like before and what left are used. If and when they come out with the 1200 then you will see.

This is why I have seen so many new guys on the other forum they must be 75 new guys in the last 3-4 months since I got mine all these guys are buying new ones That is why I have been so busy selling sliders and tank pads rearsets all kinds of products.I sold 5 exhausts systems in 2 months.

One good thing guys are buying KTM's for the first time the bike is good and the most comfy sportbike you can get.Once you ride it you don't want to get off
I am trying to set up a track day I got 5 RC8's now we need some dukes so we can have a great KTM pit.
So let get out there this sept and oct and have some fun,Some of you fast duke guys can show what a duke can do at chucky.
I am going to do b group from now on I want to ride with my bro's.And everytime I do chucky I get faster and now the bike is so quick it's insane
I hope to see my old friends out there
Vic
Surely its not about the latest cutting edge bike but about passion for the Superduke - as much as everyone raves about the RC8 isn't the SD a more fun streetbike anyway?
As Russ points out, there is a lot of activity on TLZone - hardly a forum for cutting edge supersports bikes but people are passionate about them and loyal all these years on. There's such a wealth of technical knowledge there too its impressive.
Perhaps people are shying away from asking questions here because when they do they get pounced upon by the "search" nazis?
I've found this forum to be very helpful for solving problems and answering technical queries.
The banter is usually good too although there sometimes there is a bit of bickering. I like to think I have a sense of humour but am I missing the point when it comes to the stick that Dribbleduke gets? I enjoy reading (some of) his posts. Why do many seem to go on the offensive whenever he posts - you don't have to read it if you don't like what he says. Perhaps I am missing the humour in the abuse he gets but I don't think he'd still be here if he didn't have a thick skin. Its important that we don't all just think the same way isn't it?

Now, dare I ask.... where in the UK is the best (quality/value for money) place to get replacement chain and sprockets? I'm after a 17 front and 40 rear. What chain length do I need with that combination?

Weather over here is horrible in the weekends but I do know there are a lot more people going for a SD(R) over here lately, trading their supersports/bikes. Since a lot of info is already on this forum, not everybody will register and ask the questions.

Did over 250 miles yesterday..with 4 other KTM Adventures...went to the coast thru the woods on old logging roads....we joked about paved single track ..fir needles and branches have covered the pavement leaving two 16 inch wide strips to ride on. big time fun..

This just means:

- people need to work more
- superduke.net is complete and search gives people the answers
- superdukes are super reliable.

eg.

I damaged my tank tightning a bolt too much.

There's a lot of topics about it.

No need to open another topic or ask more thinks about it.

SD.net will have ups and down, but as long SDukes will live, sd.net will too. No better place for us!!
Well, I can tell you that the number of spammers is about the same, but the number of legit new member requests is down. We'll likely see an uptick when the new bike arrives - or not.
There's a point in the fact that there's a lot of info on this site already and most questions been probably asked before.

I'm new here and still overwhelmed by the vast knowledge that accumulated here.
Nevertheless, not always I manage to find what I want to ask through searching and I'm not too keen on asking and risking getting beat up so.. If it's not too important I'll pass.

i.e - I'm thinking of replacing the lead acid battery to a LiFePo4 one, but not sure which to go for, how many cells and such. Looked around, found some old posts but still didn't get an answer though I'm sure it's been discussed back and forth.. Maybe I should open a thread in the Dr. F forum..
Nothing wrong with re opening an old thread with a new question
I still think this is the best place to go for a superduke. The guys here always been nice I learned so much about my duke here.
Because of this site I made the right choices on what to do to make my SD great .

I got the SD because I loved the way it looked and handles. On the track it was a blast.I had to give up sportbike because of my back .It's a mess
When i rode the RC8 I knew I could ride a sportbike again and for a while I had both.I loved my duke it was alot of fun .but there is a reason the RC8 is so popular It is so much like a duke except with clip on's

This is the place to come if you need to find out anything about your duke it helped me over and over.Yes there are people that come and go .

I love KTM's I wish I could have kept my duke. It was a shame to see it sit there. The guy I sold it to loves it and is riding the piss out of it and that make me happy.
I miss talking to my friends here on a daliy basis but I am still orange and i love my KTM

I so hope they make a big duke.Just seems there is no real info.My friends that own dealership have no idea what i am talking about when I say they are coming out wit a 1200.
Ktm is a small company when you compair it to the others and it seems all their energy is going to the RC8R.
If they make a 1200 duke I think it will take sales from the RC8 but who knows they are doing well they own many parts of the dirtbike markit
they are stating to race moto gp even if it with the smaller bikes.

I wish they would go after the big boys in superbike i think they could do ok if they really put some money into it.
A v twin can be a threat look at the new ducati motor it has a ton of HP and has more torque than any bike out there so KTM could do it.

It the price of racing that is the problem all these companies that race at that level are worth 3-4 times what KTM is,
I think KTM is content to win at dirtbikes and slowely start racing moto gp we will see if that company for India that now owns 47% of KTM will want to pour some cash in to racing moto gp I would love to see a bad ass KTM on the grid.
