Ok all I now have officially lost it and bought my 4th bike this year! Last Saturday I took delivery of a 2007 SMR.
Wow what a fine ride she is, I cant really give a full review yet as I only have about 300 miles on her so I am still taking it easy. Here is what I can tell you
The SMR is a BLAST to ride, I commuted on her all week and just had a ball. The power is good but not in the same ball park as the Super Duke.
The riding posistion is VERY good, I think better than the Super Duke, I like the seat (most people hate it) but I am only doing an hour or 2 at a time so it has not been an issue. I like the way it invites you to move around it is so easy to hang off.
The handle on this bike is also outstanding. It is not as intuitive as the Super Duke but pretty close.
The bike is a bit taller than the SD, It could be an issue for some, but I dont mind. I like sitting up tall in the saddle looking over the cages.
The gearing is a bit odd, the bike lugs in 6th gear at any speed under about 75.
I love the look of the bike, the black over orange frame is a sweet look. It looks so much better in the flesh than in the photos I have seen.
Ok more info after the first service which will also see
Leo's
16T front sprocket
2 larger on the rear (not sure what it is now)
Jet carbs
Overall I could not be happier, I was looking for something that gave me the same fun factor as the super duke and the SMR delivers there hands down. It has to be one of the easiest bikes to ride fast on the market, very forgiving, very comfortable, and the grin factor is off the charts.
