Have a 2008 SD and I want to make it better...if I can. I have the following setup...
Motobox
SAS Block-offs
O2 sensors eliminated
Gear sensors eliminated
SDR Motor (yea I got lucky)
FMF Apex pipes
Now I can tell you it is WAY BETTER than it was stock, but I am wondering if it can be even better with a custom map. I'm running the stock map and it seems OK...but it could be smoother down low. I'm just wondering with this setup if I'm missing something that would make it even better?
A custom map will always be better, with all the changes made you're not getting the best out of your mods with the std map.
Grab shade and ottos map.... And remove the secondry flies and shafts. And maybe my dvs in the future
Those maps will not work as Katooms bike still has the stock SD pipe, injectors and ECU.

I'd recommend throwing your bike up on the dyno to check A/F ratio (and get an output number forshits and grins). If close, I'd just ride it. JMHO.

I will find out what/ how thew ECU was done when they put in the R motor. I like your idea JOhn of taking her down for a dyno.
it couldnt be standard parameters.... as the advance is very different on the sdr.... different cams.

hang on is it an 07 sdr engine? or an 08?
It's an 08 R motor.
slipper clutch

OK, for clarification I doi have the 52's as well. Just not sure on the map but I will find out as the KTM regional tech did the motor swap for me under warranty.
you could actually ride the thing, its pretty good right out of the box ya know!
Uh, rode it today as a matter of fact...it rocks...but why not look for ways to improve it...it's fun!
From everything I've read the SD and SDR cams are the same grind (lift, duration and timing).

I'd asked Katoom about the TB size before and he stated they were the stock SD version (along with pipe and ECU). Either he mis-understood my question or I mis-understood his answere because today he confirmed he did in fact get the 52s with the R motor (now I really hate you!).

Whoa Strat, think that comment was a little uncalled for. Katoom is in a unique situation (one I'd be happy to exchange with him by the way). He's got an R motor which is substantially snappier than the standard motor due to lightend flywheel and crank. Makes the bike rev quicker and makes it way more sensitive to on/off throttle transitions which on a day like today (very wet) would be hard to modulate smoothly (ie not much fun).

Coincidentally met at Rock Store this morning and we discussed various fixes from mapping to additional flywheel weight to help settle the R motor down in his standard chassis.

Nothing wrong with chasing the perfect set up for your needs or preference.

Right?
