Set off (Lincolnshire) Bank holiday monday at 0600hrs on fresh Dunlop 208 RR's binned the leathers in favour of a KTM peg scratch suit (top notch bit of kit as it turns out,well chuffed ). The roads were empty Keeping well away from the A1 on some fast twisty A roads we crossed the top end of the Yorkshire dales on the A689 (mega road,especialy the decent) )heading towards Dumfries then the A701 to Moffat then on to Selkirk,Peebles and back into Moffat for 1700hrs.
Day one we'd covered 360 mile's (on an SDR seat ) weather was gorgeous bright and sunny. Booked a BnB and then hit the town. Omlete n chips and 8 pints of fosters followed by a pizza on the way back to the digs and before i knew it morning had arrived and it was time for a full English breakfast a quick shower,gear packed and back on the bikes and off again.
Tuesday morning was Moffat,Selkirk,Peebles and back to Moffat again as it was just awesome the day before (road and scenary) we only encountered 6 vehicles the whole time and not one copper (loads of wheelieing )
Back towards Dumfries,then on to Keswick in the Lake District did a tour around,but too many vehicles and cyclists so it was slow going,only managing a couple of hundred miles Back t o Keswick first go got a BnB with secure parking then out on the town for a few Fosters.
Wednesday morning looking out the window and it was pissing it down,had the full breakie again,shower watched the tv news but by 10 am it was still raining hard F#ck it, knowing the roads would be really slippey especially under the tree lined sections after the sunny week before we set off slowly towards Borrowdale. It was just too dicey so we headed back to the A591 to Kendal crossed the M6 where it suddenly stopped raining joined the
A65(F#ck me fast section ) to Skipton the sun came out got some proper heat in my tyres and had a ball skirting down the side of the Yorkshire Dales (wot a brill road )
Crossing the dale's on the A59 to Harrogate visibility was down to about 10 yards with blanket fog and mist crawling along in second with my visor up looking for the road (not good ).
Just before Harrogate the fog suddenly lifted and within 5 mins the sun was out and i was caning it to York dropping down to Selby on the A19 then Goole to the very fast A161 Gainsborough -Lincoln,then a few very fast twisty B roads stopping just short of Sleaford at 1700hrs
A grand total of 830 mile's of brilliant roads and just about every weather condition barring snow you can think of (we had 60 mph cross winds as well at one point which i forgot to mention ) and my SDR did'nt miss a beat,I'll be going again soon!
