my 05 sd makes a horible noise when starting from cold its like the starter motor is not engaging properly any ideas?????????

#2sprag clutch dude, should have been replaced under warranty for a new one as it was a problem, may be worth taking it to them to see if it has been done, mine does it too but not got round to checking if it has been done.

#8Just a point of clarification: It's the starter motor torque limiter - nothing to do with the clutch although it is a sort of starter motor clutch. Lots of people have had them replaced under warranty and a few have had them replaced at no cost out of warranty. Irrespective, get it done soon as it's a destructive thing that will cost heaps if you don't.

#12They honoured mine when I took it in, the shop had to do it anyway as they gave me a years warranty when I bought it from them but it turned out KTM agreed to cover it anyway.
It will do no harm to your bike or anything like that, it's just friggin embarrassing if they're is anyone around and it does it.
