Had a new 'first' experience today, that of the throttle cable snapping on my yet-to-be-3-yrs-old SD. One minute punting along chasing what looked like a RC8 (judging by the rear light), the next minute coasting to a halt despite 100% throttle fully open!
I took the assembly apart at the side of the road (god the KTM toolkit is comprehensive) and voila, one corroded, frayed (in 2 places) and broken throttle cable.
Now replacing both pull and return cables at £26each + labour. Bloody rubbish. Specially on a bike this [not] old. (Good on Privilege breakdown service though - arrived in 25mins to get me home!)
Not my week. Monday I found a sprocket nut had worked it's way loose and gouged a huge mark out of my swingarm. Nice. Still, got to ride the 10R instead today - gotta love Japanese fueling don't ya! Sooooooooooo smooth.
Sigh.
