Streetfighter S....

I think I'm buying one.
I really, really don't want to buy it, but I went and slobbered over one on saturday and the nice man offered me a good trade in for the SD and some cut price termigs. ...Must not give in to over priced Italian bike porn...keep riding superduke....not want whirly open clutch sexiness...keep riding superduke....Must resist traction control and ohlins shiny bits...keep riding superduke...reaching for cheque book...must fight weakness....ahhh...........help, somebody stop me!

I was in the same situation 3-4 weeks ago. The Duc wad tempting but I ended up with a new 2011 sdr at 5000 less

The good thing is that you Can reuse all goodies from the old bike. I also beleive that ktm has fixed all issues by now. Not all reviews on the Duc are 100% positive.

It's a nice bike, although I'd go for an MV Agusta Brutale 1090 RR over the Streetfighter S. It's better at everything in my book.

I still prefer the SuperDuke R as an overall package, but the MV is a close second.

You are a little ahead of me Lobster, I went down to Laguna, THE WORST DEALER IN THE WESTERN WORLD, on Sunday just to get a test ride on a Streetfighter. They didnt have one, useless as always.

I have heard the Streetfighter has a funny riding position so make sure you are happy with that before wedging out. But otherwise, why not? The Streetfighter makes a genuine 130bhp, I dont think any SD/SDR can claim that, unless you measure it on an american dyno. The Streetfighter has tonnes of Ducati knowhow if you think of it as a 1098/1198 that you can use on the road it is a no brainer as a bike purchase. I still think its syling is a bit shit in places. It looks a bit like it has already had a front end smash and those shotgun exhausts that are right where you put your foot bug me. That said I never really liked the SD look either, only the SDR.

Also, you have to figure that KTM havent delveoped the bike since they designed it, alright a token top end rework on the 08 SDR that doesnt account for much, If you keep your SD you will likely start to find fault with it. Maybe little niggles, maybe big things, perhaps it is better to jump ship now. You can always come back if KTM release an naked RC8R. In my youth I always traded bikes cars and women every two years. I thought it better to leave with good memories and see where the next one took me. It has cost me a few houses and I owned 6 washing machines before I ever wore one out but that is life. As soon as I had kids I was stuck, for better or worse (those vicars are lying cunts it is just for worse) if I could trade her for a sexy latin model I would love too...but probably wouldnt if it meant losing my kids

So fook it do it, enjoy it, if the Superduke has gone a bit Gail Tilsley you will never be sorry. On the other hand, if the Streetfighter turns out to be as mad as Angelina Jolie it is your own fault for thinking with your dick.

I feel your pain, if only there was an 1098 SD coming this year. Went to Ducati Aylesbury at the weekend (bumped in to Jocke) and drooled all over SFs & 1198 like a little kid high on Harribos

I love the look of it and it's supposed to be great fun... KTM have got to sort out their dealer network and bring something new to the table. Loyal fans are leaving in droves and KTM have only themselves to blame..

The SF has to be one of the ugliest bikes I've ever seen. KTM has to build a new SD eventually, I hope. Just hold out man. Get some new bits for the bike. That mite keep you satisfied for a while.

I'm also looking at a leftover 2010 SF S. They have the bike down to 18.4 usd, with 1k in store credit. But I really don't think I need the forged wheels, all the CF bits, and the Ohlins. That's all bling for me. The standard would be the way I'd go.

I've also been thinking about an alternative to the superduke as mine has been so unreliable. I've had the fuel pump fail, the oil sight tube leaking, the clocks misting up and now the engines in bits because it was burning loads of oil and it's only got 4400miles on the clock!

I can't make my mind up about the Ducati streetfighters looks and the bars are a fair bit lower as well.
I've not seen one in the flesh but the MV augusta Brutale looks the nuts, but both of them above are probably unreliable as they are Italian although unlikely to be as unreliable as my Superduke!

Having said all that i'll be keeping my Superduke as I can't afford a new bike yet, and to be honest it's the most fun bike i've ever ridden.

I do just want a new toy and the cost of the Duc is ridiculous....although the deal I'm being offered is relatively very good...But then there's nothing really wrong with my SD...But then I couldn't sell it for what they're allowing me on it as a part ex....and I really like the SF....but I don't really need it...
If I can keep this up a bit longer, hopefully they'll sell the bloody thing to someone else and I won't have to decide....

WTF. I've had a shed load of bikes in my 25 years of bikes! Not loved one of them as much as I do my SD. I ride in to car parks and steelers with bikes parked everywhere. You know what, there is still nothing else I would rather own. You can stick the Streetsniffer and that Harley mincer and shove the lot. I love my bike with a passion that makes me smile when i see it in the garage and piss myself laughing when i ride it. Its a real world bike for real world people, not for kin mincers!

i would say go for it! i have had my streetfighter for about a year and love it i kept my sd for about three months after i got the ducati but it just sat in the garage

the streetfighter is proper fast and the riding postition can easily be changed with a set of renthals

Good move John! Glad you eventually saw reason. Now all ya need is to comeout with us for a nice ride and a brew one day soon. The song of a bunch o guys in their 40s on SDs is a magical thing Plus you will get to see tons of bling if Klinck and Bic come out...it will be like a shopping trip for you to decide wha toys you want for it! May i recommend an MHBox and custom tune for sir?

Lets not forget about the maintenance frequency of Desmo engines & their related (HIGH!!) costs!!

the estimated $900 first service of my KTM versus the $250 first service of my 1098R. I say estimated because I hung up after they told me how much it was going to cost for the first service.
