Stupid grin!

Hi all. Got 500 miles on my SD so far and am loving every minute of this thing!! This bike begs to be ridden in a way that will most likely be the end of my driver's license. But it's all good. Getting the break in service done on Tuesday, so I need to put another hundred or so miles on it tomorrow. Can't wait to let the thing rip up to around 9000 rpm!!

One quick question for everyone though. I am interested in getting a cowl to cover the rear portion of the seat, but was wondering if anyone had seen one in matte black versus the carbon?

It's really likely that this part is manufactured in ABS. Like most of these materials you could easily get the matt finish by using wet and dry with a lot of water to take off the gloss finish. Just be prepared to take a lot of time and use a really fine grade. If you use too coarse grade you will make scratches which will take forever to remove. If you treat it as a paint finish and go carefully you'll be able to get the matt look you want and if you want that semi-matt finish that KTM parts have you can start to T-Cut the surface back up to have a slight lustre. The skill is getting an even finish across the whole surface. And the really hard bits will be the three recessed areas where the fixing bolts go - I would do the insides of these first before you even touch the outside surface.

And one last thing.........test a little bit of the process on one of the undersurfaces before you take the wet and dry to the visible part - just in case I'm totally wrong about it working.
