Superduke.net is awesome because..

Just wanted to say even though I no longer own a Superduke and now have an RC8, I won't be leaving this forum behind ever

After using ktmforum.co.uk and basically finding that they are basically a bunch of unhelpful piss-takers I am signing off from their forum.

The difference here is that when you have or suffer a problem with your bike, 99% of the guys and girls on here bend over backwards to try and offer help and advice. With events like Crashfest we all get together and have a great laugh too. I have met some great guys here that share great passion for their bikes.

On the whole I haven't enjoyed my RC8 anything like as much as my Superduke and when that sexy new 1290 comes along I'll have one in a heartbeat.

Fair enough there is plenty of banter and piss-taking here too (mostly Ducati Pete and Stupid Luke!)

There are a few great guys who use both forums but they are definately the exception to the rule thats for sure.

Definitely a unique forum in that regard. Low on the bullshit factor and quite high on helpfulness and on technical know-how. A more mature, knowledgeable crowd than most other forums I'd say...

Unfortunately, you must've missed the latest memo... all non-superduke owners are to be banned at once.

Yeah some of the custom projects detailed on these forums are quite impressive! The velocity stacks, airboxes, the rear view camera one-off... lots of members who really apply themselves to some serious projects!

Out of all the forums I've been a member of this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. Great bunch of guys and gals. Very few douche bags, which for the internet is a rare rare thing.

The ever-scamming, non-contributing, dump (sell) whatever-their-shit-is-here people virtually don't exist here. Forums aren't supposed to be Craigslist. Craigslist is Craigslist. What is sold, tends to be quality stuff for SuperDukes. Most are not only honest about the condition of what they're selling, but also about transactions.

Now, about those guys that are always "gimme, gimme, gimme" ... That said, if anyone has a NIB 24K gold-plated Akra EVO full system collecting dust, I'll give them $5 for it. PM me, you know, if you're interested.

Impressed with how nearly all are principally on for their love of moto, and how supportive and technically contributive folks generally are. Differences of viewpoint don't turn into interwebs pissing matches. While amusing on occasion, drama isn't a theme here.

I haven't been on this forum very long yet, but i really enjoy it. I check for new posts 5 times a day or more. ( still in school, thank god for smartphones )
I like the fact that there are just a few members compared to some forums that have several 1000. This way you get the feeling you sort of get to know people, even though i might never meet anyone on here in person.
Most people here have a great sense of humour, and everybody is Always very helpfull.
Also the creativity of some of the members is amazing: motobox, dual velocity stacks, rearview camera system with integrated gear indicator, single exhaust set ups.
Thats why i think it is awesome

last bike i had before my SD was a 69 tricked out shovel head ! before that 71 650 triumph.

SuperDuke.net was priceless for getting me up to speed on all these computer system'd bikes ( which i've never ever had to mess with ).

Anything new coming up for development on SD's shows up here.

found the videos for the Nickelson Triple clamps worth their weight as my bike was feeling washed out in the front and found out pushing the tubes into the triple's made a world of difference for me.

Suspension info again , priceless.

And like most of you say the "BS" factor - well where is it .

A non freakwent follower of forums so I will take others words readily. My thoughts are that it is possible that the forum follows the bike what we have is a bike that deserves a better following.
I must be better too, my bike choose a rightfull passengers.

I had my LC4 for 5 years and my SD for two before I even thought about looking for a forum that might bring me into contact with other bike owners, internet forums wasn't something I was familiar with or though about doing. I was just happy on my own doing stuff to the bike and minding my own business, doing track days and riding on the roads on my own at weekends. I thought the days of being in a biking community were over - not many of my friends had bikes, this was something I'd always done since I was 15 and I wasn't going to stop.

But I can't remember how I discovered this site. But I stumbled upon it one night and couldn't believe it. Here was a load of guys discussing the bike I loved - in great detail and with a load of passion and knowledge. I remember that I spent about a week sitting every evening with a bottle of wine reading back through many, many threads. Dr. F, The Thunder Pumpkin rider, etc. They inspired me. Amy wanted to know why I was often conversing with someone who's avatar was a cartoon Nazi called Klink My life changed a bit. For the better. My bank account changed for the worst as a two year orgy of modifications, fettling and general blinging took over my spare time.

I still get up every morning and have a coffee while I check out recent posts, and at lunch I usually click on to see what's up. Become a habit really. It's warming and comforting in a pretty hectic life. It's a bit of me time that no one else is invited into. Except you guys.

It is the only forum that supports my passion of the KTM Duke and Superduke. Has done for the past 7 years.
In the beginning it was all about Great bikes but the various woes we were having with ours. I Copped out for a couple of years and bang. SDs were Worldwide.
With more folks contributing and more "Bits and pieces/Knowledge" Out there to sort things out.

Took a bit of stick when I came back to the Forum. (Deservedly ).
But Everyone on here understands the "Cult of Superduke" .

Superduke.net is awesome because... without this forum I'm almost certain I'd be riding something else now.

I rushed into buying my first SD. My insurance money came through from my written off ZX6R (B1H) and I stumbled upon a second hand 2005 with 7,800 miles on it and a good few extras in a Yamaha stealer. I'd wanted a Superduke since I first saw a picture of one when I was 17 so I knew I had to have it. They started it up in the showroom and it scared the shit out of me. I took it for a ride and it scared the shit out of me. I then placed a deposit and later bought it.

I knew very little about them and their usual problems and had little to no mechanical knowledge. WP shaft and seal needed doing, had 2 failed clutch slaves and continous weeping after, seized front calipers, oil pressure sensor went, regulator/rectifier... there was more. Stealer helped very little, I'd spend a fortune on them looking at the bike and it would come out barely unchanged - lessons were learnt there also.

Some days I just wanted to leave it behind but when the bike was good, it was GOOD. Reading all the threads on here made me realise I wasn't alone with the problems I'd had.

Anyway that was then and this is now. I've learnt a lot from the wealth of knowledge on here and feel a part of something. I'm not going anywhere.

Superduke.net is great because . . . it has great moderators. (Excluding yours truly of course.)

Seriously, the Board is what it is because of the way its set up and the way the mods take care of it. Yes, its a pain in the ass to join, but that's because of the constant barrage of spammer assholes out there. The mods get 50 to 100+ spams a day. Every tom or hairy dick wants to sell you all the latest greatest penis pill, erection creme, gold mine or Coach bag knock off. (My personal favorite was the international escort service. I may have to use that one. )

Then there are the used motorcycle/auto parts guys who want to join up. Its no accident that they are not here hocking their shit. Its the mods that keep the wolves at bay, and I thank them for their tremendous efforts. I don't want this to sound like self aggrandizement because its not meant to be. I do fook all compared to the other mods. I wish I could help more, but I'm afraid I'd crash the site if I mucked around too much. I've already wiped out a bunch of posts. Chances are, if you are missing a post, you can thank me, but I always fess up in a PM to you.

As already said, the knowledge, development and passion for something I like keeps bringing me back.
But I also think that I could quite easily sit down and have a beer with any of you and talk absolute, random crap as we get more ond moure drulk.....

Plus I think it helps that we are a forum of a "niche" bike, that needs a certain mentality to stick with it, which transfers to the forum. As well as the mods keeping "floaters" at bay.

This site has answers for just about everything sd related and anything else as well! some great charcters (never met any! but the craic is good) cheers me up when offshore bored at nights. and the naked thread is best . cheers
