I tested the street and speed back to back the street is way more fun than the speed IMO, i have an 08 SDR which imo is the best bike in the world. So i decided to just use my SDR for track use and the odd sunday blast and then for my road bike decided to buy the street triple. I brought this in May and sold it in August the bike is great fun but a million miles away from a superduke the standard street has big problems at high speeds and so does the speed triple. BUY A SUPERDUKE

i had the same thoughts when i was looking at a naked sports bike so i set off one morning and went to the KTM dealer with all intentions of riding both bikes. the demo KTM SD had akros on it apart from that it was std the sound those pipes made almost sold me on the spot, but after the test ride that was it i didnt even make it to the Trump dealer.

The duke's bottom end power delivery is way more fun. Also has the edge in brakes and suspension, overall a more streetable bike in my opinion.

I loved the motor of the Speed Triple, the chassis felt a little short and twitchy but I really strain to say anything bad about the triumph....it was a pretty awesome bike.

When I rode the Duke, I was instantly sold, Triumph what?

I'm guessing you've posted this on a S3 forum too?

I bet they whined how the SD isn't worth the extra £2k for virually identical horsepower, ugly looks blah blah blah....

I dont know if it's worth it or not......but I've never EVER heard anyone say the S3 was a better ride/faster bike/more fun/better build quality than the SD. I like the S3, I'd have bought one if I'd never seen the SD.

The real question is: Are you man enough for the SD?

Just got my SD last Saturday - I test rode Speed Triple, Ducati 1100, and Ducati 1100s a couple days before I got the Super Duke. To me, the Speed triple seemed somewhat "tame" in handling and engine - liked the bike a lot and certainly could live with one, but I had remembered my SD test ride from 1.5 years back and decided the Duke was the pick. The Ducati 1100 was not very impressive to me, however, the Ducati 1100s was a very close 2nd for me compared to the Duke - 1100s just seemed a little less kick and handling.

When I originally tested the Duke, I came back to the dealer that sells Honda Yamaha Suzuki KTM and at the time I owned FZ1 and Suzuki Vstrom DL1000 - for me, I told them, the SD was the FZ1 handling with the Vstrom engine, which is why I got the SD - I always loved the FZ1 handling and the low end grunt of the DL1000 - now I have both in one bike! Whoopie!

Now, SD compared to my 09 R1 with crossplane motor....that is a whole other long yet-to-be post...
