Superduke ORC Shield

I noticed that the KTM factory touring windscreen bears an uncanny resemblance to an Orc shield …Like the ones carried by the big Orcs ( the Uruk Hai) that the heroes fight at the end of the first LOTR movie...the one the biggest Orc throws at Vigo/Strider and pins him to the tree with it. Maybe the film maker looked at Germano-Austrian design to come up with these semi-crystalline forms (But the metaphorical “horse-power” of the Mechano-Cubist sculpture Great Horse ( 1914) by French sculptor Duchamp-Villon, also comes to mind)…

So what does my great insight into the nature of 3-D industrial/fantasy design all mean?… well, nothing I’m afraid….not that I’m aware of anyway…not really…

Of course, it may mean that it is still too cold to ride and so I’m “working” in my office with a DVD player beside me on the desk. Time to put on a better movie…The motoGP 2010 Official Review DVD is here, and I’ve only watched that 5 times…so another go won’t hurt.

What can I say...except, YES.......and soon to be replaced by "lots of time to ride my Superduke"...

I wonder where I can get a "white hand" decal/sticker to go on my "touring" screen....

Why a sticker? Go for the real thing. Your hand and white paint. Odd, but I have been thinking of a hand print on my bike, like the American Indians used to mark their stock. Tan earth tone base with hand print.....prob not. Will prob end up with dark gun metal gray w/ KTM logo in gold metalic with a very light contrast.

Nice..yeah I thought of doing "the real thing"...I have two of those touring shields...one is little cracked around a couple of the bolt holes and is also covered with stickers...the stickers can go (iritating little things) and a big white hand print might be cool....regular white latex house paint might be fine (I have a lot of it).

The big news is that it suddenly warmed up today...I might actually toss in the battery tonight or tomorrow morning and get the SD back on the road!!!

I have been riding the SD for 3 weeks now this spring. Bike still not done but good e-nuf to ride and work the bugs out. So your a Ca-nook? East / West /Middle? I am in Oregon and have many fond miles in Canada, up the Rockies, out on Vancover Island, ect. If you are West side and make the trip to LaGuna Seca in Monteray, Ca. you will go thur my stomping grounds in Oregon. Be glad to show you some extra special roads, or anyone else on a SD / KTM.
