Test rode a 2008 SD back to back with a 2006 950 SM.
The ergonomics of the SD are great for the power and handling precision it has. I have reduced function in one of my knees due an injury and am 6'4".
The lack of wind buffeting at semi-legal speeds was surprising; I thought it would be much worse.
The problems though were that the throttle was so sensitive that on rough roads the bumps would actually feed back into the throttle.
The other problem was that when riding through town at 30 mph, even on a smooth road, the bike was not maintaining a constant RPM.
The difference in fueling was very pronounced when I took a test ride on a 950 SM right afterward. It's power delivery was very smooth. I wish I could have the fueling of the 950 SM with the ergonomics and power of the SD. I wouldn't buy the 950 SM as with its open ergonomics and reduced power it isn't enough different from my 650 thumper that I'd be satisfied with it.
Will this "G2 Throttle Cam" sort the SD throttle catchiness
out? A PowerCommander and dyno tune? Is it something that you just adapt to? Everything else is just right. My options in sport bikes are limited due to my knee injury and height.
