#7Wouldn't it be more cost effective to strip off all the bling and sell it too us as the stealers wont give you that much extra for it and prefer standard bikes anyway as they sell better?

The last litre bike I had was a ZX10R and I rarely ever had that thing wound up to 10k, mainly because by that RPM in any gear you're breaking the speed limit. Bouncing against the limiter? Fuggetaboutit!!!
Give me the fat midrange over top end any day of the week..
And yes I rode the BMW, feels like any other inline 4 litre bike, except not quite as strong as the GSXR and CBR in the mids. Come to think of it, it didn't feel faster than my ZX10R either which has a bit more torque in the mid as well.
Its a nice bike, but Im not sold just by the fact that it has 25 more horsepower at the top end. I'm never there anyway.

#21thats the thing with the bm its so smooth its deceiving how fast it is,my tuned k7 gsxr 1000 is 183.2 bhp at the rear wheel and although the beemer didnt feel as quick i was looking down at the speedo on familiar roads and it was quicker and faster and i was going in to and out of corners faster on it....i loved it and it suited my riding style......

#41I haven't ridden the BMW yet, but I did take a brief ride on an RSV4 Factory this last Friday.
- Amazing brakes
- Best handling litre sport bike I've ridden, despite the stock front rebound being a little too fast.
- Love the sound of the motor when it spools up
- Neither comfortable nor especially uncomfortable (for a bike of it's type).
If I were to spend $16k, I'd likely get the Aprilia (The RSV4R) instead of the BMW. It's better looking IMO, handles better (from every review I've read) and I like my local dealership (dealer support is necessary).
That said, I'd reserve final judgment until I rode the S1000RR, but as another said, the extra ~25hp is irrelevant outside of a racetrack.
One interesting note - the Motorcycle Consumer News review of the S1000RR noted that the bike had a consistent tendency to hop sideways under ultra-heavy braking when the rear would lift off the ground. They were concerned the bike has a balance issue.

#55my duke was fun to ride but i was always pushing it harder and harder,a sports bike deserves respect and alot more skill to ride fast as anyone can ride a duke and be quick as they are that easy to ride,the duke is a good bike but i do prefer a sports bike,its all taste,i will no doubt get another superduke in the future as they are good fun to ride but it did'nt give me the rush i was after that i get from a sports bike... at the end of the day we all ride bikes and enjoy them and it dont really matter what other people ride does it as we all love to ride something with 2 wheels... i even been looking at custom choppers and would like one in a few years as i think they look awsome....

#62You know, I partly agree with him. I mean come on, 150-170hp imo does need more respect than 110-125hp.
And I think reaching the limits of a superbike's performance is ALSO more challenging than that of the SD.
Which is more fun is open to opinion. Love the way some people here lean towards the 'your opinion is right as long as it's the same as mine' type

Any manufacturer, not just KTM.
Any manufacturer WILL tell you once you had a PC to your bike you will void the warranty.
Now the dealer might say it's ok, and as long as he doesn't tell the manufacturer (in this case the importer, that officially represents the manufacturer) there is no problem.
But officially, it's not covered.
The dealers want their costumers happy.
They want them to go back for parts and service.
So some or even most will tell you that an aftermarket exhaust and a PC won't void the warranty. Because they want to sell it to you, or at the very least you to be happy to go back there to spend more money.
They know that the likelihood of an exhaust or even PC screwing up the bike is very slim. And even if it does happen, when they apply for warranty they just don't tell the importer that the bike had them installed.
Even some parts sold by the manufacturer will void the warranty.
Reason?
They are parts for racing only.
They are not for road use, and the manufacturer clearly states so.
Besides, racing bikes are not covered by warranty.
But even in these cases most dealers will respect the warranty though.
