Looking to replace my Shoei visor (X Spirit) as my current one is very chipped up. I love the pinlock so thats staying and i think its standard on them anyway. My current one is a dark tint and its awesome, really like the level of tint. Im curious about how it would compare with a mirror finish or iridium.....what do they look like from the riders pov?
Tinted, mirror or iridium?

#2Certain colours of iridium give problems seeing into shade.
The tinted ones last longer too

#3Iridium is sooooooo 90's!
Seriously you can't beat a standard dark visor imo.

#4Yeah, im no fan of iridium, just curious about what it looks like from the inside

#5I had a irridium visor on my previous helmet (shoei xr-900) and on my current helmet (xr1100) is a dark smoke one.
I think they look the same from the inside.
Downside of irridium is, they damage real easily, so after a while you'll have a lot of tiny scratches witch wil be visable from the inside.
That annoyed me, so I went for a dark tinted visor with my next helmet.
Looks better from the outside too

#8Ive never had a irridium visor but a dude I know said that they are not that good as you keep seeing your reflection on the inside.
Post 9 by Ducati Pete,
#9I had a green/yellow one and if you were riding in sunlight you just couldn't see into areas in the shade.
A purple one was really good but, both of them pitted very quickly.
Now I have a clear, a lite tint and a heavy tint.

#10Agreed with all of the above.
I had a mirrored one on a previous plain black lid as I didn't want to look like a black bowling ball with my visor down, but looking at track day pics I think it looked too posy, plus it scratched very easily.

#15i find the iridium ones reflect more heat off the face... which in australian sun (when its not flooding) is imperative... anything to avoid heat stroke when riding is important on those 40 plus deg days.
so yes i use a gold one... best reflective colour i think (well when its using true gold anyway)

#18got an irid gold visor now, but turns out to be a waste of $...the inside has a similar mirror finish and so in bright sunlight I see my nose stretched out across the whole road
PLUS, the damn finish is wearing through! I'm forming a "bald spot" of no-iridium right on the front of my visor...maybe a cheap coating? Just the nature of the stuff? HJC visors?
Probably gonna switch to a smoke visor in the future

#19yeah.. that is the reason i turfed my hjc... all the visors are rubbish... the smoked visors look milky and the iridium visors do what you say too.
I hated that helmet with a passion.
i went to a shark after that... and then to a shoei XR1100
I couldnt go back to anything less now
