This is a thread to show your praise of how good the Superduke is. Don't hate, appreciate!
I love mine. It's not been trouble free, but its excellence has been well worth every minute of frustration.

I love oafboy182's avatar, and if you don't think it's brilliant..... what were we talking about?

SD is the most fun street bike - ever.
I like mine so much I ride it to work everyday and spend more time getting dressed for the ride and getting changed once I get to work than the actual ride itself takes.
Pretty much every weekend is spent on the bike going somewhere (sometimes I go no where but enjoy doing it).
I love my SD sooooo much. Everyday when i leave for work then get home I gaze lovingly at her. Any excuse i can possibly find to take her out and spank her is taken.
Can't see me swapping for any other bike except perhaps a SDR
Yeah mine's all right, I suppose.....if you like that sort of thing...

When I first thought of this thread, I thought it may get quickly pushed down the thread list. Awesome responses, here's mine.

Although KTM thought of little quirky things (IE an oil sight tube made of brittle plastic, plastic heel guards ETC) the rest of the bike (the parts that really matter) ROCK! Stump pulling engine, top grade brakes and suspension, and a trellis frame.

THE BEST part is the "wolf in sheeps clothing". I pulled up with my brohter in law to a gas station on Saturday. Hick gas pumper says: "hey how fast is that Ninja bike?" "Wow theres allot of green on that bike". NOTHING about the SuperDuke. When we left I raised it up through the first 2, by brother can't ride to save his life. On the way back we stopped to top em off. Hick gas pumper says: "What did ya put a Ninja bike engine on that dirt bike" "YEP" I answered.......
The bike simply looks the business. It has a pitbull's stance when at rest, and then handles like the bike's in the movie Tron. The light feel of the steering at first took some getting used to, but now it just means I can pop it down into a corner with so much more ease and confidence. Unbaffled Akra's just make it a joy to listen to without being obnoxious or annoying on extended runs. Appearance ? It looks like the devil himself carved it from a solid piece of anthracite with enough oblique angles on it to make a stealth bomber jealous. I love the v- twin's engine braking, confuses the fook out of the 4 bangers as they scramble for their front brake lever trying to keep up entering the twisties. Aaaah, the twisties. This is the SD's world. You can slap it around like a 2 dollar whore. A good day is when I get back from a ride and have to pick off the tiny balls of black rubber from the back tyre, swearing blind that I was almost horizontal on some of the corners. I really feel sorry for these cruiser type riders in their shorts and t-shirts plodding around on their iron horses thinking that they're actually motorcycling, but this is not a "hate" thread so I'll leave it at that

...... I personally have had no issues with the bike whatsoever....touch wood, so no blemishes on the KTM brand at all for me...........
I had a Suzuki....I went to a motorcycle show a few years ago and saw the first North American Superduke. I went home, immediately phoned a KTM dealer and ordered a bike. Then I gave the Suzuki to my son. I've been riding legally on the street since 1964 and have tried a few different bikes (everything from Honda to Norton) I like most bikes. They have all got at least one good feature. But I love the Superduke...a bike that really handles with the low end torque of a V-twin that can also rev almost up to 10,000 rpm...whats not to like?

I am a sculptor and make my living teaching the history of 20th c. sculpture, architecture and industrial 3-D design at the university level..and I think the Superduke looks fantastic...

The only think I don't really like about the Superduke is its name...Superduke?..sounds kind of dumb to me... but who cares? Its better than calling it the Uberherzog (German: "Superduke") I guess. Maybe it could be shortened..maybe "Uberhog" is a good name.

speaking of hogs...

I was at a Harley-Buell shop the other day..looking over their new XR1200 "sporter". I'd like one for a second (3rd) "slow bike", but they are priced too high for now. (the nearest KTM dealer is also a Harley dealer, but thats a different shop)...The Harley guys really seem to like the SD. They go out to look at it. The head guy told me that he would definitely take the SD in trade on a Harley (Don't worry, I never suggested it and its not happening). I'm not sure why the Harley types like the Superduke though I suspect that its because of two simple things:

1. Its not Japanese.
2. Its a V-twin

I've been riding bikes since 69 and in that time I've owned several Japanese bikes from each of the big 4. This is my first KTM and by far the most impressive bike I've ridden thus far. There's not just one thing that stands out, it's a combination of everything, brakes, suspension, handling, build quality, and that engine... Anyway, I've been so impressed with my Super Duke that I just bought an 09 450 EXC. Oh, and it's a hoot as well, but thats another story.

i begrudgingly love my superduke, i never really wanted it, i only bought it cos my french is too rubbish to get a Ducati looked after (i.e. talk to 'Le AA'). But like a little ginger step kid with too much character, it's worked it's way into my heart. It's just such a damn fine bike. I know it's way better than i'll ever need, and the looks a right up my alley. I have an 06 and i love the fact it looks like it's been built in a shed out of some darth vader left overs.

Ktm are a truely top notch company and deserve the recognition they are getting. I'm not so keen on how the 2nd hand prices have plummeted for the 06 model mind you, but then i don't want to sell it anyway!!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I'm moving to france next month, where about are you?

My superduke is the first brand new bike I've ever owned.

I love mine, have seen off a few sports bikes already and I'm still getting used to it, I can hoist wheelies from over 70mph, stand ups are easy too.

IMO
Snatchy Throttle - No its sensitive, feather the clutch

Front brakes issue - No there just that good that if you grab a handfull you'll go over the bars!

Wat would you call it out of curiousity? KZRTY990-009887, yeh i agree we all have our ideas but as a collective i think we all agree we have one of the best performing top end bikes out there . Do you shout from the rooftops to everyone and tell them they are the best, or keep our mouths shut and keep the fun to ourselves?
