#20It goes well for a twin, but it's slow compared to a 1098.
Next to a GSXR or a ZX10 it couldn't pull the cock of a chocky mouse. Just as well the brakes are shit hot.
It also has very useable power, you must have enjoyed the two fast right handers at the end of the lap at Jerez.
I had loads of people remarking how suprised they were at the lap times a naked KTM could do around a full on GP circuit.
It's a good all round package.

#21God Pete, I am sure glad someone has a positive but realistic opinion of what my pumpkin has to look forward to, Yes, you coined it " useable power Indeed" the kind I like, I don't think I can circulate as quickly in the tights on something smooth and powerful as I can on her, when you combine the seemingly muldane power then coupled with its superb suspension, light flickable weight distribution excellent traction, the bike just begs me to go race, like I would be a fool not to, and I say to her....Wazzup??? and she says come on joe lets go.

I never looked at my tach. Now, I carry a KTM tank bag and I am thick,
as to say....... I cannot tuck in as well as others, esp. with the tank bag
in my way, It did not feel like it was as fast as it could go? Maybe take the
mirrors and bag off, and a big bore kit? I dunno, To me that is a little
disappointing, It is rare for any one I ride with to go any faster.

On a serious note, I know the speedo is not wholly accurate, but since they all come from the same factory, hopefully the error % will be common to all, considering that tyre swell @ 230 shouldn't be that much of a factor...
So the numbers (albeit overall incorrect) should be comparable... Unless of course the 05/06 has a different error reading to the 07 (and if Stabak has an 05/06 )..........

#31My duke runs 240 on my clock and that of a 1300 Yammi stock bike with gutted pipes.It gets 8/9 km to the lt.

#33Top Speed on the Clock on my standard 2007 SD was 238kph at the Bahrain FI track, But just purchased a Garmin 305 GPS lap & distance timer - recorder, so will be able to post true figures next week after we go out next week end.
Next month will also fit the Akro's and power commander soon as it arrives to Saudi.

#35Spot on - with 16:38 gearing the bike hits the 9,600 rev limiter at 241kmh.
If you want more you could try either the original bike's 17T front or get a tuneboy and up the rev limit to 10,000

#46with the renthal bars, it starts to get violent over 130. maybe with clip-ons itd be easier to handle at higher speeds. my streetfighter R1 can easily go over that and still be comfortable

#5507 SDR with 16/38 gearing and flatout it will only manage 139 mph (not public roads ) I dont have any trouble hanging on to it and it feels stable enough and i suppose i dont really need any more power for what i do........ but if more power was available with a cheap easy mod then i'd go for it

Been bout 10-15 faster on my ol gsxr750 down the same straight....but is the fun on te bends i like most..!! pisses those R1's off..!!

#63i have 16/38 sprockets and it is realy nice for me. ok In the top speed i loose against my friends :roll: (kawa ,suzuki,yamaha) but when the straight line is over....... the SD is there :lol: and that is what bikeriding is, in a straight line everebody can go fast!!!!!!

I got mine to 267 on the speedo recently running the stock 06 gearing.
Do disagree with how smooth it is though. Mine started getting a bit of a weave at about 240!!!
