Track Graphics - My first foray into Photoshop

I've been toying around with ideas in my head now about a scheme for my bike, especially after getting the graphics done for my sons RC8 replica balance bike and seeing the quality of those.

Then Dan posted up about his graphics and it had me digging out an old slimmed down copy of Photoshop we had lying around and having a play.

I've never used Photoshop, am generally not artistic and can't draw for shit, my handwriting is not much good either, which is probably why I'm into computers, I was able to do a pretty good line drawing copy of pictures in Turbo Pascal programming software when I was at college though.

So anyways, the first one didn't go too well, I wasn't familiar with layers and so didn't specifically making any, I soon found out that you can't undo very much on photoshop and so my efforts were shut down pretty quickly at the point of this abortion below.

So anyways, I then started using layers and cutting bits off of the black SD pics I found to get what I wanted, and eventually, after much messing with the red jester, I found out the proper way to change the colour and make it orange, after a few attempts at recolouring via paint bucket and majic wand went extremely wrong. I also had to stich together bits of the jester as there were gaps in the original image as it came from an image of a graphics kit for an aTV and in the end I've amazed myself with what I was able to acheive and am pretty happy with the results, it's not the tidiest but it's good enough for me.

So here's the finished result more or less (the swingarm graphics were on the original pic and I didn't get round to removing them)

I added the piece on the seat as I didn't like the way the orange seat intersected the lines I was trying to create using the tanks features but whether or not I go to the trouble of getting a spare seat and getting some vinyl stictched on is another matter.

I wasn't sure if the jester would be too cartoony or something but, I like it and represents me and will be truely unique (unless you own an ATV in the states and have the graphics kit), so truly unique in Orange and in the UK

I then added on the R tail as this may be a future revision and resolves the need for a piece on the seat as although the picture doesn't show a great match I assume in reality the matt black of the SDR seat support will not be far off the matt black of the Black SD tank.

.....interesting!

I'd like to add a seat cowl as well which would be orange with black numbers and white outline but couldn't find a side on pic of one.

I was originally thinking about the one you got Dan from ebay and sold on but now I'm thinking it'll sit too flat, I saw a pic of another bike with a completely different cowl but no idea where that came from, so i guess it'll have to be the KTM one, I was never that sure about it, but they look good on yours and ash's bikes with the numbers on

Here's that other cowl I saw, I think I've seen the pic before but never seen the cowl for sale anywhere.

I've been trying to find the right Ronin image for my side panels to go with the Japanese lettering I've had translated, I've been trawling the net so far, any ideas? Here's the lettering, says moto ronin.

Ok, haven't updated this thread in a while but I am getting somewhere.

Got the tank and tail back from the sprayers and so have mounted them and the black belly pan on today along with the left hand black side panel.

No graphics as yet but is a taste of what's to come anyway.

It was getting dark so pictures not the best but wanted to document the first big stage so just went for it.

The orange isn;t as different as the head on shot makes it look it's just that the flash picked out the gloss panels at the front and one side a bit more.

Just need to get black RHS panel sorted and get the graphics done.

I picked up a custom jester artwork from my tattooist that he drew for me a couple of years ago and am going to scan it in and have a play with it and see which one I prefer.
