Trackday on the SD- Report.

Well we turned up this morning and got to track at 7.30am to get ready... it was bloody cold but dry and sunny.

Once everything was loaded the lads lobbed on their Tyre Warmers (i never) and we were good to go. After a saftey briefing etc we were unleashed on track.

THe track was chilly with a temp of only 5 dec C ambient temp so it was really really easy for the first one. SD was performing really well and doing exactly what i asked of it.

During the morning i got 3 other sessions and they were all superb. Sadly i lost most of my mates on the first 2 laps as they had hot tyres, and mine were chilly. But i had some great fun overtaking and being overtaken.

The issues i thought may happen with running wide quite simply never happend and the bike was faultless. Holding lines well, fuelling was better than i'd hoped and the brakes were superb.

The only issue was scraping foot and footpeg on the tightish righthand hairpin of Druids. I was getting good lean angles and really enjoying myself. But need to go back to hanging off a bit more to get the most out of it and make the corners while keeping the bike a bit more upright... Or fit rearsets

All in all i was more than happy with the S-D, although at times, i wanted more power... i think the lower power enables me to ride it better

My trip to Korea was pulled, and I was at home last night. I woke up this morning, went into the kitchen and looked out over the Thames; my first thought was "Great weather for Weeksy and Pauly, wish I could be there."

Rear sets, I don't often touch pegs, on the left sometimes - I don't hang off as much that side. My bike is riding a tad high at the rear to give better clearence.

I had a look 'round cos I think I may well get some. Without sounding disrespectfull to anyone, I came to the conclusion that if functionality and track use is your goal, rather than bling, the best ones are the ones the SD cup guys use. Bracken sell them at around £250. This also includes a shorter braided hose for the rear brake.

Would like to get out on track with you Weeksy. I'd prefer a track closer than the moon!

Sheesh, I don't wheel my bike out the pits in anything less than 10deg!

Glad you had fun, I recently did my first TD on the SD was was MOST impressed.

Just needed another 15 or so hp, or so I thought, coming from a fireblade. But I think you hit the nail on the head, relative lack of power made me ride better too!

And I cannot think of a situation where this bike could run wide, it's bloody awesome!
