Trade-in value, a little peeved.

I had the same with a Ducati 996 a few years ago, when i came to sell the dealers were not interested and i had to take a big hit on the price.
To be fair its the same for alot of Jap bikes as well , with a few exceptions.
I think the best value bike for depreciation in the UK is the BMW R1200GS but they are 10k plus new.

Hello Brendan, It has all been said before but this is a luxury item, a toy... most people/companies are on the take these days and never take their eye off of the $$ issue,

the entire world caters to the rich, all others move over!

I bought a 06 gixxer 7 fiddy new for 87.11 otd, stolen in 60 days, 10 days later insurance paid me in full with the price of my tag and tax,

then bought a new ktm sm 06 950, paid 12.500 only had it 8 months to trade it in for the 07 sd, the sm brought nada of 8.500, then the sd cost me 13.500

so if you look at this like I do? i see the Suzuki was the only one that did not kill me in depreciation, I have 13.500+ the 5000 in SM depreciation the add the tag and tax of 500 x 2

this would mean I have 19.500 usd in a bike that is 2 years old and had been crashed 2 times already and I paid for the offs rather than tearing up my insurance.

This had no mention of the absolutely brutal beating I took on the 2004? BMW R-1100-S... it hurts my eyes to think of how much I lost on that worthless bike!

It' s hard to find a way to lose money faster than buying motorcycles new and selling them a year or two later. Cars too for that matter. Ask me how I know. Gambling and strip clubs would be a close second. Ask me how I know. Don't get me wrong, I understand the urge. 47% is staggering. Chalk that up to already slow SD sales and a total shit economy. IMO, trade-in to the dealer is a very costly convenience charge for not having to do the work to sell it outright. Every time I talk trade in with a dealer I leave the place shaking my head thinking up my ebay pitch.
