#4Apart from some trick suspension and wheels I think it's a bit of a pig ( and I like old school Brit ).
He couldn't get any more rake cause they don't make any longer shocks.
At least lowering the seat pan would have covered most of the hideous welds.
Nice carbs too though. He's obviously got more money than style.

#6I see the reason people like old bikes because they have grown up with them but this really isnt my cup of tea at all lol, much prefer a speed triple or something.

But then, this is my other ride... so my taste is questionable.

#11That Triumph was at the bikers classic @ spa a week ago. Looked very nice in the flesh I must say. If I remember correctly it was displayed by LSL, but I'm not 100% sure.

To me it is no different from granny shagging.
I have been riding for 27 years legally which is as long as most on here and I dont get nostalgic for slow, unreliable, heavy old tat that I couldnt wait to trade in the first time around.
Although I will make an exception for Weeksey who just needs an excuse to be slow. Just a pity Aprilia dont make a dinosaur bike so Freestyler could have the same excuse.
To me it is no different from granny shagging.

#20I just rode my old V7 Sport for a bit today. Of course it's not as fast or as nimble as the SD, and the gearbox is a little clunkier, but it still makes me feel really good. And I remember it when it was new and totally hot shit in its time. Things like this should be valued on their own merit and in the feelings, emotions and enjoyment they produce in the individual. Personally I kinda like the looks of that redone Triumph.

As for performance, just look at some of the records set in the 70s/80s which still stand today, what bike is the 750cc fastest 1/4 mile record held by?
Going back to old british bikes, my old 72 Norton Combat Comando was easily a match for my mates 1980 GS1000, every time we went out for a blast he would do me on the straights, then i would be up the inside or round the outside in the bends kicking his ass!
I still have my old 1980 RD400E (427cc 80RWBHP) last time out at a Rockingham track day (2004) i lost count of the R6s / GSXR600s i passed and some of them out dragged down the pit straight to......
Santa Pod RWYB 2006 same story, nothing beat me in the 1/8th mile all day (Including a Suzuki GSXR1000K5!) I raced one guy on a Speed triple 3 times, 3-0 to the RD!
I would take choice of bike from the 70/80s over a soulless`White Goods` bike of today every time and I would rather have a beer with Kenny Roberts than with that Casey Stoner `Geek` to

#27OK - as much as I like old bikes, I really don't have time to keep them lit (would cut into riding time - and we ride year round here), so some of us get our "retro" fix with stone reliable modern knockoffs. Sure, that bike in the pic the OP put up was no small investment, and it may be modded to where it puts down as much HP as an SD (the aftermarket parts to do this are readily available). Regardless, I dig it. Don't care for the faux "patina" (those welds are how they actually appear from the factory - the rest of the "rough" and raw appearance is mostly bogus), but I'd roll it.
Got tired of waiting for then Dreer's Norton to appear (the brand again in Brit hands, with essentially the same bike - in the pic someone posted), and instead got my own parallel twin Trumpet. Mine is basically stock except suspension, and it is possible to have a good time on a heavy bike with only 50HP. Pretty sure this isn't what the folks in Hinckley had in mind when they built it, but then I never asked them:
