ugly?

A guy just came by my office to tell me how "ugly" he thought the KTM SD 990 is...he rides a Honda ST1300....a touring bike with near "full coverage"...It has so much plastic that when I asked him what the engine was he didn't even know if it was a V-4 or an inline-4 or whatever..he has never seen his engine...and has no interest in seeing it...give him lots of swoopy plastic covering over everything and he's happy...

I think the SD 990 is one of the best looking bikes around...near pure function...

..and his bike?...I never did like cop bikes.
...ah... He's a pinhead.

Mark.

My bike is fooking gorgeous! I get nowt but positive comments about it....mostly in the vein of "that thing is a monster", "thats what a real bike should be", "awesome bike!" etc.

Who the fu©k cares what some pensionable ST1300 rider thinks? His idea of excitement is a rich tea biscuit with his afternoon cuppa!!

gah....
Just in case some of you don't know what that Honda guy thought was a "good looking" bike, below is a picture of the Honda ST......he also thinks the Superduke is not a "highway bike"...that you absolutely "need" to have an electric windshield, stereo, etc...I'm old enough to remember when guys "toured" North America on Triumph 650 air-cooled twins...so to me an SD is a fine "touring" machine..or anything else I want to do with it....but it sure ain't "ugly"! I mean it looks like a mad machine-bull..some kind of Minotaur Machine...what could be better?

I got some similar attitude once at a bike night from a Dutch guy on some huge Yamaha cruiser...he wanted to know if I could get up to and cruise at the local highway speed (110 Kph) with my "little" superduke. He truly was ignorant, and thought that his aircooled behemoth (that he admitted had terrible suspension, worse fuel injection, and broke down constantly)was the latest in high speed technology.

I'm older than Honda Guy..maybe that bugs him..he seems to think its a bit unseemly that I ride an SD and claim not to envy him (although he thinks that I secretly do)....

many (too many ) people asked "how could you go from your red bike to ...this..?" (meaning my blade...), but that's just fools who know nothing, and couldn't tell the difference between my old 1000rr, ducati/kawasaki or even a cbr125r...
they also do not get how/why Bimota is way cooler then Hyosung

those who know, usually other bikers, come close and start drooling... "wow, look at those brakes!", "the stealth black looks great!", "she's a beauty, but you should change the rear light..."

i like the looks, but i accept that people have diferent tastes, it would be boring if we all like the same things. Just don't come to me and say "my toy is nicer then your toy". Specially if you ride an ST1300!
One more thing..Honda Guy just bought his ST..late in the fall..he only had a chance to ride it for a week before putting it away for the winter...so he is still suffering from "I just got a shiny new bike" syndrome...and...and here is the punch line...his last bike was a Yamaha Virago 1000. A VIRAGO!

You wanna see something funny?..this is a picture of a stripped-down Honda ST 1300. This is the bike thats hiding under all that plastic. I can't figure out if its ugly or cool...anyway, its better than the stock bike.
