Unexpected smoothness

After almost trading the SDR for a new RC8R I am now starting to enjoy riding the bike again.

Something I cannot understand though, the bike has been running a lot better lately. First noticed it after putting the stock exhaust on. Rode bike to the dealer for the inspection/MOT and noticed that I could ride it with a steady throttle without jerkyness. At the time I just figured the stock pipe being slightly more restrictive made the bike run a bit richer/smoother.
Had the dealer fit a new chain and sprockets with 16/40 gearing at the service.
After getting the bike back I fitted the Acras again and now after riding it for a couple of days the fuelling is still very good. I don't understand how the bike can feel so different without changing anything?
I hope it stays like this....I have already ordered SAS plates and a CPR airbox. Might wait to mount everything if the bike keeps running like this
For some information, the CPR air filter is really good and together with the RC8 stacks the bike goes like stink!
It needs a slight remap however as I noticed some of the old surge back. It turns out the CPR filter makes it run a bit richer in some areas and needed a bit of fuel in other areas of the map.
Now that I sorted that out it's smooth again (better than before) and really goes.
Worth fitting if you allready ordered it. Try to find a tuner for a custom map after you done the mod, the bike will run so much better.
Alternatively get a PCV and a autotune AT-300, I tried it and it does a good job in adjusting the map.
Just came back from an extended commute. Couldn't resist taking the route over a couple of twisty mountain roads on the way back. Absolutely nothing wrong with the fueling now. On/off throttle transitions mid corner, 1st and 2nd gear pickup from 2000 rpm going thru the uphill hairpins etc.
Feels like a completely different bike to ride.

I currently run the KTM Acra map with the O2 sensors still enabled. I will contact my dealer tomorrow to ask if they made some changes they didn't tell me.

Wish I knew what was going on...
It might be something to do with the gearing that you changed to, just like the same reason that us '05/'06 riders changed to a 16 on the front (was 17) made it more ride-able.

Mystery solved....

After replacing my leaking header gasket the bike now runs as crappy as ever. I guess the air sucked in thru the leak was enough to make the bike run slighty richer.

Waiting for the CPR airbox now to see if that helps.
Get the tuneecu software and cable. I could not understand how my bike would run like a champ, then like crap for a long time. I uploaded one of the custom maps on the website for the mods I did and instantly, the bike runs like a champ, always now. Also, I would not put on a new airbox or take the secondary flies off. A certified engeneer with a degree spent a lot of time designing those and some guy in a garage decided they could sell an airbox and kit to remove the flies and make a buck. Unless you are going to get a full dyno tune, leave it alone. Just the pipes if you must. Your just waisting your money and making the bike run worse otherwise.
