Lethal force in London? Against the Royals? So much for the safe streets of London. Welcome to the real world. This sucks... I guess people get really pissed off when you take away their entitlement's.

It's like we have been transported back to the 1980's and the last Conservative government. We loved a violent riot back then as well

I can understand what they are upset about, maybe taking the violence a bit too far but no one listens to peaceful protests unfortunately The Anti Iraq War protest in London drew nearly 1 million peaceful protesters and achieved fook all.

Prince Charles turns up for his first day at Cambridge Uni . As he walks up the steps to the entrance he turns to his body guard and asks .. " Why did you not go to university Collins ?" To which Collins replies .. " Because i got the same grades as you did sir ."

Guess it depends on the definition of "students".
Here we call them "youths" otherwise known as minorities or several other more accurate terms.
All meaning people who think they are owed much more than they are willing to work for just because of who they are.
I think the students basic aggravation is that this new coalition government is going to hit the next generation, not this generation themselves, with up to a 300% rise in fees. This when one part of this coalition promised in their manifesto that they would do no such thing if elected.

Also the same politicians now dumping massive debts on future generations of students, most likely enjoyed a free eduction themselves. With probably a nice fat grant thrown in to boot.

There is also the argument that they are in a large part responsible for the shit state of affairs we are all in now and are not paying a penny themselves towards fixing it. I think they enjoyed a payrise of 2.3% this year. Just typing that is getting my blood boiling.

And of course there is the fact that these student are young and should stand up once in a while with a big middle finger and say "fook you!" That is part of what being young is all about. And a large part of me says fooking good on them!

This thread is fooking hilarious, and it all centers around people pissed off, or (I hate this word) "disenfranchised", because they perceive and "entitlement" (a word which describes a non-existent entity) has been taken away from them. In this case, college students riot because now they have to pay (more) for university, all other politics of the meddling with who goes to university aside. As WVHillbilly put it (and I are one also), in the states two wanks named Barney Frank (a buggering bastard, litterally) and Chris Dodd (hypocritical corrupt arrogant lying bastard) tweaked legislation created by our previous Worst President Ever, Jimmy Carter, to coerce banks to lend money to people who had no chance of ever, ever paying it back. The reasons for such actions are multitudinous, nefarious, and positively without merit, yet it was done anyway, and now an entire global economy is paying the price.

I disagree that politics is different across the pond. It all boils down to people who want something they didn't earn paid for by money taken from people who did earn it because "they''ve got enough, they don't need it", decided by an elected official who counts on the recipients of this largesse to keep them in office. It's the same, whatever political system you run.
Once enough of the populace realizes they can survive without effort on the largesse of the business class, eventually they will vote in enough politicos to put that chicken in every pot, to give that mortgage to everyone that can make an "X" on a paper, and so on. Communist, Socialist, Democracy, Republic - success or failure all depends on the moral fiber of those that make and enforce the rules.

I don't know anything about Prince Charles. He impresses me as a man sadly out of touch with those he is supposed to represent, just as out current Worst President Ever eats $100/lb steak while his porky wife bitches about how badly US citizens eat. All I can say is that if any wanker ever, ever did that to my car, there would be a sadly, violently different outcome, and it's a shame Britons have had that ability virtually taken from them by the Nannys In Charge.

Government is supposed to serve the people, not coddle them.
