Use superduke (2 person) seat on SDR?

I'm wondering if it's possible to mount the standard superduke seat on an SDR for a passenger (I'm sure I'd also have to figure out a mounting point for pegs too)

Or is there some type of hacked up passenger seat for an SDR out there?

I'd keep it in standard form most of the time, and occasionally put the passenger seat on when the girlfriend asks for a sunday afternoon ride

The seats are interchangeable, I myself have an SDR single seat on my standard SD. I'm hunting for a standard seat right now because I don't do track days and would like the convenience of being able to carry a girl on my bike. Plus I hear the standard seat is more comfy.

and how easy is it to find parts for a superduke? I'm considering a few different bikes right now and a superduke is one of them

edit: I'm in the states so that would probably make it more difficult

Sorry, when I said the seats are interchangeable I should have said the entire tail is interchangeable. If you do the switch, everything from the seat back has to be swapped. The brackets for the foot pegs bolt onto the subframe.

Correct, its an all or nothing swap. Well you could leave the passenger brackets and pegs on an SDR tail but I don't know why you would.

This thread would indicate that the new SDR is filling a need better than some would suspect.
Maybe there is something to be said for passenger accomidations on even a race bread bike such is the R.
Short answer, buy the new one and get everything you need in a byke.

Being able to just pull off the rear cowl, throw a different seat on, bolt on passenger pegs, and figure out a way to mount the taillight on to something

this would be all that's needed for the occasional sunday afternoon when the girl wants to go. Doesn't need to look pretty since it would be a swap for just an afternoon every once in a while.

The other 95% of the time, on track and off, the superduke looks like it would fill my needs as a rider

thanks for the info all. maybe i'll decide between the superduke and the other options this week.

I have done this mod and can change my seat back to R setup in about 10 minutes.
I Have left the original seat tray in place but have lowered it about 10mm with spacers to allow the twin seat to fit.
I have also made up a bracket to hold the new tail light.
So all is that i have brought is a seat, side panels, rear tail light and some passenger pegs.
The seat lock swaps straight over but had to fab a new locking catch which took about 10 minutes.
I read alot on here about that it was hard to do but in fact it is very easy.
Will try and post up some pics of my setup.

Ok now that I got the image thing sorted,
I have trimmed this seat with an electric bread knive and sand paper as I seamed to be sitting on top of the bike and not in it

Home made bracket for tail light, spacers used were 3/8 copper tube.

seat catch, is temporary for the mean time

I also made an aftermarket tail tidy

Why, the cans dont get very hot at all.
Had the wife on the back last week and had no complants, she would of said if her arse was getting hot

This is my attempt on SDR, i made a light bracket so the undertray could be retained.
The change to dual seat takes 15mins tops.
You can-not keep the rear foot rests on as they use the bolt holes / brackets the single seat tail unit mounts / pivots on.

PS if you dont know for sure...why comment!!!!
