new akras and PC fitted off I went, blasted from Dubai coast to the Oman coast (140 km) nice twisty quiet roads (were before I got there db killer out of course), passed some camels on route and back again. spent afternoon pissing it up at an all incl . brunch then the wifey suggested we not neglect the kids any more and suggested a trip to the pool. of course i had to go on me duke, swimming trunks t-shirt and sandals and new jolly roger arai lid of course. next thing I'm in a pile of sand with a fookin sore arse... what a twat ! some sand on the road and it went at about 120 mid corner, I was well on the outside so when she went the bike was already pretty much in the sand, so little damage. lid was the only thing that hit the road so there a nice scratch upside the paint job I think the responsible father left home when the SD arrived.... blame it on the duke ay. some pics of the day, b4 & after. Oh shit! I hope you are OK. Getting sand blasted in shorts can't be fun. I know what you mean about responsibility going out the window. How far did you fly/slide in the sand at 120? Bike looks pretty good for that kind of crash.
they have been dumping sand from a contruction site about 2 meters from the road, the piles are about 5-6 ft high so thats where it stopped, I stayed on so most of the impact was taken lower back/arse.. my nose feels a bit squashed from lid impact but really very little damage.. front headlight mask and speedo bracket and under seat fuse / tool kit box cracked I'm hoping the rear frame isnt bent. Bars were twisted and steering stop mushroomed a bit. lucky really... no stupid a better description!
I guess if you have to crash at 120 that's about the most fun its going to get! Heal well. Will you have trouble getting parts there? (Not that it's easy in the states).
inshala, That is a much more forgiving environment than mine, I guess the sand is the sh*ts on the roads but much nicer to land in when it does happen,

seems you will be looking for some carbon bits now?..... My crashes were low speed but were very destructive to me, mentally and physically.

I am glad it was just a minor spill and you are good, there may be some standard black bits around on the forum for you to pick up for little dosh.

cjc, those hard to obtain parts you speak of will soon become a thing of the past, we are over the hump now, and even then they were only certain things.

Cheers,
joe
hey guys, 120 km thats about 70 your neck of the woods, I think they fall off box carts at those kinda speeds in California.....
joe... first thing that came thru my mind (after the wifes verbal and emotional abuse) was carbon. only thing that worries me is that if, sorry when it happens again I dont think the carbon would be as forgiving? what do you tink?
