What bike to get?

#2Howdy and welcome!
First thing I'd say is this; take all bikes under consideration for extended testrides. It's the best way to tell.
The power drop off from ZX10 to SD is big. Put it this way, riding 50% on either, the SD is more fun (imo). However, if you're nailing it the SD is a bit disappointing comparitively. Again about the test ride, the feel of the v-twin delivery floats my boat!
Handling wise it is a much quicker steering bike than the jap 4's. In fact you might consider it flighty and loose initially. You learn quickly, and again, to me this feels great.
If you're deadset on stability then the Tuono is more for your reckoning. After testing it and the SD back to back it actually felt a lot heavier than the SD (which it isn't, not that much). Plus, it's butt-ugly
Dry weight with Superduke is ready-to-ride minus fuel so it'll appear heavier but it's not (jap bikes measure individual components and add overall weight which is why they appear so light. So does Aprilia). The SD is claimed at 188kg's or 413lbs.
Again, I'd say ride them all first, it's actually the only way.
But what I've actually been wanting to say this entire post is;
BUY THE FRIGGING SD, IT'S A NO BRAINER!!!

#10i went from 05 cbr 1000rr to sd. if you can get used to ~50hp less, i think SD is a good choice. it handles much better than ZX10, much more comfy as well, but don't expect hitting 280km/h on it, and if you often go well above 200km/h, the lack of wind protection becomes a big issue. also, for me at least, it took time to get used to the twin-thing, it's different than inline 4.
now handling wise, in stock form, SD (did not try SDR) is easily the best handling bike i've ever riden (and i've riden quite a few). suspension plays a role in this. the WP's are wonderfull, and comparing to stock cbr suspension, its like comparing Harp to Budweiser. (no ofence ment for Bud drinkers, of course.) Or maybe chocolate to shit. they look similar from the distance, but one taste and you'll know their not the same thing.
in the end, the best bike for you is the one that best suits your riding, so it's not easy to give advise, but if i were you, or maybe if you were me, i'd get SDR....
