SO, where did you start ? What have you had ? and most importantly WHY did you go for a Superduke ?
Me, i passed my test in 2000 having already bought a ZXR400, and had that for only 6 months before moving to a Red/white ThunderCat, which i wrote off the week of my bike test LOL.
Then to a GSXR-600 which was stolen when away being painted..
THen moved onto the big boys... a 1998 Fireblade. I used this on track a few times and then decided to go club racing, which i promptly then destroyed and shattered more than 20 different bits of bone on my first lap of first race. I now have more metalwork than Steve Austin.
After recovery i went for a 916, which ended up being just a race bike... i still broke bones but actually finished plenty of meetings
That was sold to buy a 750K1 as the series i was running in was old WSB rules so the K1 was perfect. I then realised i was shit, the Ducati was OK LOL. So retirement came and i chose once again a sports bike in a ZX6R which i had for 2 months. That was replaced by another 916 and then a 2001 R1 and finally a 2005R1.
Finally moving onto the S-D.
Why then ? Well for me bikes were all about being pristine. All my bikes were truely immaculate. They were washed and polished after EVERY rideout. I ended up being 'scared' on the R1 of everything. Dirt, Water, white lines, cross hatchings etc etc. I was nervous on every corner, every ride...
So after a discussion last week with the lads, they said "superduke would be perfect" 20 mins later i'd been on Autotrader and had made an offer on a Superduke and was heading to collect.
I know after just a few short ride, i should have done this 2 years ago. It's transformed my riding, my confidence and my whole attitude to bikes. It's now a toy to be thrown about and abused in some ways, but i can't resist cleaning and polishing after every ride ::)
I've turned into a hooligan, trying wheelies every time i leave a standstill and ploughing through traffice like a kid.
