#4It's 'cause the company made dirt bikes first, then made the street bikes as fun as the dirt bikes. Oh, and the ORANGE.

Rubbish in town (lumpy engine)
Rubbish on a motorway (wind blast)
Too much for commuting (to powerfull)
No protection for touring (lay down on tank at 75mph)
Small tank
Bad MPG
this bike is just (and i mean just in the bast way) a toy FUGGING brilliant!

#6It's the feel of the bike that does it for me. The way it provides a higher sense of feedback than any other bike I've been on before. Although the aesthetics of the bike is what attracted me to it, now it is the way it talks to me while I'm riding is the reason why I'm truely enamored with it now.

#16The R is extreme, the suspension stiff, the seat uncompromising and the engine is nuts, crap below 4000 but with a strong midrange and a top end kick at 10k revs like no twin I've owned. After riding more normal bikes it feels like an mx bike the way it wants gears and the way it wheelies. It's closer to my old 525SM than any other bike I've owned but can be used normally and tour if required.
It's def a love/hate thing tho !

I've never had a bike that made me want to play so much. I have much joy when I ride this bike.
You'll see me come in at about the 1:10 mark (far headlight). The vid counts backwards. Just be patient and enjoy.

#27Its the fact I can do anything on my bike comfortably. I can ride with my buddies on their sportbikes. I can easily carry a passenger. I can putt away in traffic and weave my way through the city. I dont have to rev my engine hard to make good power. I can go long distances on my bike and not be bothered by engine noise or muscle cramps. The only thing it lacks really is a decent MPG. But its better than my truck.. and the bike has less flaws than I do as a rider. I think that may be it.
If the SD was a girl.. she definately would be too hot, smart, rich, and horny for me. Yeah who would care if she only ate expensive foods?
Oh yeah did I mention I love the color orange? Too bad there wasnt any when I finally had the money.

#32phaasst,orange, and it works just some of the things about it that take me back to a place where a Ducati sport took me ( and a 750GT before that). I'm not sure if I miss the minor tantrums, maybe I do but like the SD they were both motorcycles that I wish I had kept and there have been very few of them out of maybe 50 odd and the reasons are not all defineable.
So now I have kept a couple of the standouts and they're not the ones everyone would pick but they tend to be exceptionally good at what they're made for and they fire up and do their thing first or second kick even after a year or so of gathering dust and they're damn near indestructable and repairable.
I think the SD is very much like my TM enduro (once I had a close look I had to have one) and someone said it better than me of the same bike... "once you've ridden one why would bother with anything else?"orange and black is not for everyone but we're not everyone are we?

#33were do i start??? i have been riding 22yrs and always had sports bikes up until 2007 i traded in for my 1st upright bike yamaha fz1 great bike but just dont do it for me, so sold that and got a 57plate R1 missed having a sports bike and the looks. 6000 miles in 8months and i was bored with doin 130x mph and having no fun. so decided to test ride the SD awesome bikes handling was the best i have every ridden, brakes awesome looks awesome. got back to the dealers and he new i wanted one but out of the corner of my eye i see an ORANGE FRAME SDR come to DADDY done the deal paid £400 more for the SDR and what a bike i think anyone would look good riding one of these in the twistys. Right i have some stickers that need going on my SDR so now off in to my garage to admire my awesome SDR
P.S one small thing i dont like paint work is not the best quality in the world.

#43I also like the sd as a full leathers bike, to a touring jacket and pants ,to street hooligan gear ,to jeans and shirt,or even harley type leather jacket and chaps (remember to wear jeans under chaps please) basicly anything goes ,and looks in place , could even rip across town with mx jersey,pants and helmet ,what would you think id a dude had his full leathers on riding a occ bike (sissy bit--) or a harley nighttrain with textile gear ,it would raise eyebrows and be considered a fauxpa ,were lucky we apperantly can even ride naked and its ok ,its good to have a sd
