Get the Police Crime report number then write to the DVLA, explain the situation (obviously leaving out the part about wanting to break his legs) and request his name and address, if your lucky they will supply you with it

I got knocked off of my push bike when i was 15 by a drink driver doing 60mph which put me in hospital with brain hemeraging shunted spine, memory loss the works. whitness got his rag number but he left the county with in 4 hours of it happening and wasn't arresed within 6 months so got of scott free.

Be careful, easy to get the wrong guy here. It is quite likely he was driving uninsured hence his reluctance to stop. If I were to drive uninsured I would not be daft enough to register the car to myself. I would likely buy a cheap car with some tax left for cash, no receipt and a false name given. That way, your lumps will be bashing the cars previous owner and not the guy you are after.

My brother was hit by an unisured driver a few years back and he was never traced despite witnesses getting the car registration.

It is likely that car is in some breakers by now, chassis tags removed so how will you know you got the right driver?

How does someone get a ticket for hit and run against a motorcycle? Shouldn't that be attempted murder or at least manslaughter? That makes no sense. I'd go off on a cop if they told me that. A simple ticket for a hit and run on a bike? You've got to be fooking kidding me.

Also, people should be more careful as to who they give licenses to. Driving is a skill, not a right. If you can't do it then stay off the road. It boggles my mind as to how many people cannot understand that.

First of all, glad you're ok.

A friend of mine got hit in a bad way by a 17 year old uninsured driver in a rental car (story in itself) in London. He was ok at the end but was left on the road unconscious while the twat drove off. Fortunately another guy on a bike went after him and held him until police arrived.
You'd think he'd be done for manslaughter, but no, £300 fine and 6 points on his licence after going to court!!
Sad state of affairs! In my opinion they should be locked up for manslaughter and never be allowed to drive/ride again. Having a licence is a privilege, not a right.

It really does wind me up how somebody that does this gets less of an impingement on their life than somebody who speeds (albeit excessively), they always use the argument in those speeding cases that it was reckless driving and somebody could have been hurt (even though they weren't and is quite often a clear road in some of the cases I've seen) in order to slap you with a prison sentence or criminal record of some sort, so how come when somebody actually is hurt through actual reckless driving they just get a slap on the wrist.

Anyways, glad you're ok and hope the fooker is caught one way or another and you can get back on yours or another bike soon
