before i get flamed for putting a damper on my bike a little background, my wife of 23 years decided 10 weeks ago that she was leaving me, she walked out on me and our 17 year old daughter it was straight out of the blue ,she swears theres no-one else(yea right)and rolled out the old cliche,s its not you its me and my favourite one,i love you but i,m not in love with you,anyway its been a totally piss 10 weeks for me as we were together since 19 years old,so you,ll have to excuse me but i,m really just taking my mind off my probs and enjoying spending cash on my sd, so wp or scotts / its an 08 so i believe the wp fits differently ,i like the look of both ,wheres the cheapest place to get them?oh and don,t tell the wife it really used to piss her off when i spent money on bikes

#3really nice looking stuff hyperpro, i was thinking of the wp to keep it the same as the rest of the stuff on the bike, i,ve had ohlins and sprint in the past and they were good but wp lsl and scott are the only ones i can see doing them for the sd, trouble is i,m finding it hard to get a price for any of them from any uk websites

If I had a choice I would have chosen the Scots. Its great to be able to adjust it on the fly, instead of having to pull over to make adjustments. The WP mounts under the tripple clamps.
It also appears that the Scots has a wider adjustmant range.
You need to research them as they function a bit different.
Scots / Ohlins are bullet proof, and hold up very well.
I've heard alot of talk about leaky seals on GPR's.
I'm not sure if you Dirt bike or not, but theres tons of info on the dirtbike sites about Steering Dampers.
I believe theres a thread hear about a guy who just fitted a scotts on his SD...
If you don't want to deal with the ladyboy shit, head over to Panama (us $$ there too), or the "San Andres, Islands" in Colombia. I hear they are mostly all Dimes (tens)! I can't wait to make my rounds there!

#23i,ve found out i can get a hyperpro for £300 or a gpr for £365 what you guys rekon, the hyperpro takes 2 weeks as it has to be made,it fits across the top yoke unlike any of the rest

#25update: the guys at my local bike shop were given the wrong info, it turns out hyperpro don,t do a 916 style damper for the 08 sd ,so its back to the drawing board! does anybody know of any makes that are 916 style for the 08 sd i can,t find one anywhere?

#37Don't worry about the picture they've just been lazy and used the same pic on both, they both fit in basically the same place the only difference is the 07-08 version has a slightly different mounting kit due to the larger tank shape.

#45I had a HP rear spring and fork springs on my 916. The stock suspension units were fantastic quality showa, but the springs were too heavy. The HP spings were progressive and worked really well.

#47I've got a LSL on mine and its great. Only needed it once when I got target fixated on a pothole while telling myself "don't hit that pothole" She still did shake her head at me but at 70mph it could have been a lot lot worse without the damper.
