#8A motorcycle is a purchase of passion & action, not one of investment (call it speculation). The ONLY thing that increases in value after purchase is real estate, and even now that's a debatable subject.

#9No collyer it is not a debatable subject. You may well know at this particular time thare has been Billions upon Billions or possibly even Trillions
of $$ lost in the real estate market largely by investors large and small. Unfortunately for me, this is the place that I have been focusing my $$
for more than 25 years, just like a personal attorney bud of mine would say "hurry up and wait"..... for what you may say?.... for time to heal the wounds that
greed and the lust of greed has created, now for the good news. Smart money is in the worlds oil reserves of tomorrow. It will become black gold once again in the next 10 years.

#10I agree with you about oil, but I'm talking real, physical value, not paper/digital/perceived value, but real value (worth). You'll wind up eating those words when some genius figures out how to make renewable, portable energy machine from seawater and cow farts. But it may take longer than 10 years.

#18I have been following this thread when it started as its always good to price shop when purchasing any high price item. I read it again today and didnt think much about it until riding home tonight. I have had several bikes in my 20 years of riding. This is buy far the best bike I have ever ridden. I know everyone says the same thing but I love this bike so much I searched out and joined a Superduke forum just so I can learn about the bike and meet other people that I can talk Superduke with. Once I started riding and fell in love with my SD, resale value was of no concern of mine. Im sure there are people that paid less than I did. Im sure I got a better deal that some. What matters is I feel I got a fair price for a quality item. I ride my SD every day now. I ride to work, go to the store and do a couple 2,3, and 4 hundred mile rides on the weekends. After 3 months of ownership I have over 5000 miles on her. At this rate I will have over 20,000 miles in my first year. I usually keep my bikes for 2 or 3 years with less than 10,000 miles on them. I will have that in the next 3 months. What kind of resale value will I get for a high milage bike if I were to sell it in 2 or 3 years with 40,000 or 60,000 miles? Dont care, I know I will have had a blast with each and every mile. Wheeliman, you cant go wrong with this bike. I never thought I would own a bike like this. My R1 got stolen 2 years ago and I had been holding out for the 1098 Ducati. I flew to Colorado to meet with my boss and do some riding on his bikes one of which was an 07 SD. 4 days after I got home I had an 08 SD of my own.
