Something else I will mention is having had just about every kind of motorcycle known to man, I can tell you that synthetic oil during the break-in period can cause issues like you are describing. What I have found is that full synthetic oil works SO WELL that if you use it during the break-in period it may not wear enough to properly run in and you will burn oil because it blows pat the rings. With motorcycles that recommend synthetic oil, I always use non-synthetic during the initial run-in and switch to full synthetic afterward. During the run-in period I definitely follow the RPM recommendations and don't rip on the motor at all until run-in is complete. At that point I then switch to whatever synthetic oil is recommended for the machine and I have had no oil burning issues with any bike I have owned.
I've been using Motorex full syn as it was factory fill from KTM.
