Just wondered what petrol you guys think seems to work best with the SD; Shell V-Power, BP Optimax etc?
I run normal pump unleaded, doesn't seem to slow me down much

IIRC premium fuels are a waste of money unless your engine is designed to run on them (so maybe jut reserved for those with custom ECU's ma's etc ??, but even if I have that wrong (wouldn't be the first time) do you really think 2% difference in the Ron count will make a noticeable difference?
Shell V-Power for me.
I agree with Jody. Anyway I used VPower and similar during my few track days.
Just for my information how much is the price per litre in your country?

Tks

I dont go near shell here in OZ. It seems to foul up plugs on bike engines. this has happened to a few of my old bikes, got me home, but all my plugs ad to be replaced.

I use either Mobil Premium or BP Ultimate. (the 98 Ron). I have found it doesnt pop as much with higher ron fuels.

at about 1.35 a litre for premium and 1.25 for normal unleaded i prefer the premium....
I hate BP as they always put the prices up first in NZ and down the last.
Since the map I have in my bike uses a bit more ignition advance I prefer to use 98 and BP is the only one selling it in NZ.

In Oz shell has 98 too, I'll give that I try but I'm a bit worried now coz of previous post that tells me it fouls the plugs.

Anyway if you run any map that gives a bit more ignition advance like guysmap or jamesmap or a 05-06 model SD which has heaps of advance out of the box I'd say run 98 to avoid detonation and engine going bang.
I run BP Ulitmate. Had bad expeirnces with Shell in both tuned cars and my bikes.

Worst fuel I have used was in a dire situation, Matilda servo, premium fuel, all I could get to without pushing the bike 10 km. Chucked a couple litres in and the bike ran like shit until I had got 3 tanks of BP 98 through it. That was my old bandit. Never getting fuel there again.

Im with the cheapest 95Ron gang here!

I dunno about the rest of the world but here in UK the 95 is just as good as the 98+ fuels but normally 5p cheaper/litre!

I cant justify the extra pennies when the bike doesnt run any diffrently at all
I always run premium unleaded RON95 or 98 here as the 'generic' fuel in Oz is only 91, whereas in Norway (and Europe I belive) the minimum sold is 95 which is the recommended standard for the SD.

I stay away from Shell as well, especially the v-power as it has cleaning agents in it that doesn't agree with motobike engines (especially sensitive v twins apparently) I was also told to stay away from it by the dealer when I bought my fireblade, if I had to use Shell, use the premium 95 only. Several bike mags here have also complained about its effect on their test bikes (I belive that was the 1098). They had to run a couple of tanks of BP 98 to make it run properly again..
