Who Wants an integrated tail light by Custom LED?

I'm resurrecting an old thread from last December and creating a new poll. I really want one of these for my Super Duke to clean up the back end, but the company needs at least 50 pre-orders of $140 each. It would be for a Blaster-X tail light. Here's a link to their website: . I've been in touch with the owner and here is what he said:

"We have done tail lights before on a group-buy basis, where we collect pre-orders to help fund the project. Something like $140 each with a minimum of 50 people with a 1 month window. If we don't reach 50 in one month, the project is scrapped and money is returned. If we do reach 50, we will start the design, which can take up to 6 months in some instances. I will also need an OEM tail light to prototype off of."

Let me know what you think. I'd be happy to send any questions you may have to the owner. I can provide the tail light for the prototype.

Just found out that someone would have to donate an old tail light, with the expectation that you won't be getting it back. Does anyone have one they can donate?

We have someone who is willing to donate an old tail light. All we need now is more people to commit to buy. Please pass this on to any Super Duke owner that might be interested! Thanks!

We got them to make one for the Ducati Multistrada 1200 back around 2012-2013 and the final product turned out great. Once they had enough interest the final product was developed quickly and it was relatively inexpensive (~$150).

I was involved in the multistrada group buy and they are very nice tail lights, bright and a real attention getter when you brake.

If you vote "Yes", please make a post stating that you want one so that I have your username and can contact you if this project gets approved.

Just wanted to give everyone an update. I've been working with the owner of Custom LED to provide info, documentation, answer questions, etc., as he's trying to figure out what it would take to make an integrated tail light for the Super Duke. We have't gotten a lot of interest in this project, but he's still leaning strongly toward moving forward anyway. I'm not sure what else he needs, but once he makes a decision, I'll let everyone know.

Awesome news. Let us know!!

I just clicked on the link and they are actually advertising a product for the 1290 although it says they are out of stock. Looks promising considering an OEM tail is around $400.00 Australian.

Just got off the phone with John at customled.com and he was telling me the project has been green-lighted! He also said that it would be approximately 2-4 months before a production version would be available.

I'm currently using the one from Evotech, but it won't look good without the signal pods. I was thinking about going with the R&G. I'd rather go with something underneath, but I don't think I can get anything under there because of my Austin Racing Hi Rise pipe.

I just received mine today. Looks like it didn't come with any bolts/screws. Unfortunately my rear tail light just broke last week (standard broken bolt problem that many have had). Didn't bother trying to fix it since I knew this would be shipping a few days later. Anyone know what I should use to mount this thing?

Hehe, thanks for the links! Never seen that website before, but will be using it in the future.

I gotta say though- I'm not too thrilled with the idea of putting the same failure prone self tapping screw in this expensive new tail light. I was hoping it would ship with a sturdier replacement. When they snap off inside the light's socket it pretty much kills the whole thing. I saw some fixes on here, but it required a lathe, and other equipment that I don't have access to.

If anyone has mounted theirs already please let me know what you used, and if you've experienced the signature KTM tail light failure prior to this.

Yeah I figured they would be a typical small metric bolt, not a dodgy looking wood screw???

I just finished installing the Custom LED tail light, to top off a Yoshimura tail tidy, and the KTM bags and hangers. It really makes a very neat and tidy package, which looks pretty nice, I think. All of these items are easy to install, and of very high quality.

Ressurecting an old thread here. Is there any reason why you couldn't install this CustomLED.com Blaster-X taillight but still leave the bike's OEM turn signals connected? I'm just interested in a more robust mounting for the tail light that won't be as likely to fail again. Brighter tail light/brake light is good too but I'd like to preserve the stock turn signals. Any reason that wouldn't work?
